I need something free, I don't need updates so I don't need to register it.

I had Microsoft Word Perfect, but the program got screwy and corrupt, so I had to uninstall it. I tried to download some, and they just don't work out.

Any suggestions?

If I'm not mistaken, this is the one Mike got me to attempt to download, and it just crapped out mid download. But I will try again.

It is a great suite. I use it every day instead of microsoft

Well... my crap ass (but FREE) E-Machine sucks major ball juice.... half of the programs on here don't work.

Probably since I've reformatted it a few times... hahah.

What format does openoffice save the files as? Can you open the files in regular office programs?

i'm pretty sure you can save it as a .doc which is a microsoft document.

Yes. By default it uses an opensource file extension, but you can save as .doc if you want.
