I don't work for Nissan, but it may help people to give you advice if you described what the jobs they are offering you entail. There are a few things to consider that would apply to anyone looking for jobs in a large company like that.

Working at the HQ will put you around all the "big bosses" and will generally give you more exposure to the people in charge. However, that can be counter-productive as you will be a small fish in a big pond. You will also face the stiffest competition from other people. Personally I would also think that you are taking a large risk moving to TN, but you're young, so why not give it a shot.

Working at the location in Somerset, may mean less direct competition and allow you to be an all-star in your area. The only thing you will fight is that anything great that you do will be filtered back to the higher ups. What I mean by that is you may not always get credit for what you do. The other advantage is not moving halfway across the country, so if things go south you have support nearby in the form of family and friends.

Those are both generalizations, but without more info on the actual jobs offered, salary, etc. it's hard to give you "good" advice.

yea i know i was a little vague on my post, i posted it up between classes and had about 20 seconds to throw it up

they actually called me up and i never applied.. career services at school got ahold of them and they havent told me much about the job. I finally got ahold of the interviewer and he said I could work as a 'Regional Specialist' (NJ) or 'Business Strategy Manager" (TN) position. (never had a company give me a choice lol)
- they honestly seem a little unorganized

heres the job specs for Regional Specialist (start @ $50k+ bonus opportunities)

Coordinates national and dealer meeting, auto shows, and other promotional events ensuring supporting materials and logistical requirements are met; maintains related records.
Coordinates production of radio and TV ads with vendors ensuring that legal and technical requirements are met.
Proofreads advertising templates and prepares advertising packets, coordinates publications, ensures Dealer Operations Managers (DOMs) receive advertising updates.
Assists in managing the regional advertising and promotions budgets; monitors advertising spending in competitive markets; prepares management reports outlining status of budgets.
Acts as primary information resource for assigned DOMs and dealers including answering advertising and promotional inquiries and providing assistance on specific projects.
Trains or facilitates the training of dealership staff in product knowledge, sales person certification or Nissan specific software programs.

and strategy manager is basically a **** load of presentations, meetings, and bossin a few ppl around ($60k start)

the strategy manager pays better, but the regional specialist sounds like a lot more fun. Both jobs have plenty of opportunity for promotion or lateral moves.. tough choice

Not much help, but I would love to do networking for Nissan at their headquarters! I'm a bit of a Nissan fan!

Good luck with everything man! This sounds like a great opportunity. If you get the job, let me know if you see any IT jobs.

Your gonna hate it there and I'll tell ya why...depending on what facility it is, there will be the first cars of a line there the ones that were made for testing, crash testing, etc...you're gonna see cars that you wish you could take home and save but they won't let you ...lol

It sounds like a sweet job though, go for it.

I guess it depends on what you really want to do. The NJ job sounds like a lot of field work and networking. The TN job sounds like a lot of office and strategy work. I guess it depends on what you like. Do you want to be out and about schmoozing with people or do you want to be the guy telling people who they should schmooze with?

One thing that you need to consider is that $60k in TN is worth A LOT more than $50k in NJ. Although, you'd have to be willing to move to TN.

It depends. Someone on SR20 forum is building a 300ZX TT for road racing. This person used to work for Nissan before they moved from CA. They bought this car for something like $1.
