Prime a new turbo with oil?

I'm putting in my new turbo tomorrow and it's my first time doing anything like this. Should I prime the turbo with oil before I start it up, how exactly should I go about doing this, just poor it in the line then crank the engine over a few times?

hey, yeah definitely prime the turbo with oil before starting the engine...
in order to do it you need to pull a fuse that will keep the engine from actually starting but still allow it to crank. on subarus we pull the ECU fuse, or you can pull a fuel pump fuse/relay or injector clips, or who knows what else. just prime it for 5-10 second bursts a few times to make sure its cycled through properly.
definitely prime it though or you can damage it from spinning dry for a few seconds.

I generally just pull the sparkplugs and crank for about 2 minutes.

2 mins? thats excessive, and its also going to wash the cylinders with fuel i'd imagine which isnt ideal.

I forgot to buy a gasket for the oil return line. So I'll finish it up next weekend.

Maybe not literally that long, but it doesn't build oil pressure with a crank or two. I've never had any issues with flooding the cylinders, car started up no problem both times I've done it.

Just pull the plugs and crank it for like 1 min, 4 or 5 times. Search the web, there is plenty on it.
