He made one sick ass GT-GTR though. (GTR was a Homogolation race car of the Mazda 323. 210+hp 1.8 forged and webbed block, vj22 ball bearing turbo, and awd. There is also the down tuned, more "popular" GTX model. 180hp vj20 which is an extremely common swap for 1st protege's, 2nd escort gts [or lx-e's like mine], and even mx-3/6's. Same motor as the Mazda 1.8 USBP-06 like in the EGT or even 90-94 Miata and 97ish Kia's, just turbo'd.)
