John Mellencamp questions John McCain's use of his songs

...summary.... Liberal John Mellencamp doesn't like the fact "conversative" John McCain plays many of his songs at his events. Publicist Bob Merlis said Mellencamp told him that the situation made him uncomfortable and he couldn't imagine McCain would want to be associated with him

How about Chevrolet commercials? Mellencamp profits from the commercials, despite the fact

Mellencamp defends use of "Our Country" for Chevy, even though Chevy products is anything but "liberal-environmentally conscious beliefs" that Mellencamp himself stands behind.

More of his defense in NYT--

“The bottom line is, I’m a songwriter, and I want people to hear my songs,” he said. “I’m not saying it’s right. I’m not suggesting it for anybody else. This is just what I did this time to reinvent myself and stay in business. Sometimes I get sad about it really. I still don’t think that people should sell their songs for advertising.”

Fine for Chevy, but I guess he does not want John McCain supporters to hear his songs.
