Smarter then a 5th grader? Math Question

ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?
>>>
>>>
>>> There are 7 girls on a bus
>>> Each girl has 7 backpacks
>>> In each backpack, there are 7 big cats for every big cat there
>>>are 7 little
>>> cats
>>>
>>> Question: How many legs are there on the bus?

Got this email from my mom. If you want the spreadsheet that has the answer ill email it to you. But you have to have the answer to unlock the spreadsheet to see it anyway. Have fun!

Its an acctual math problem dont say busses dont have legs.

If you need the answer NJGOAT posted it in his second post with the wright up of how to do it if you keep getting stuck.

I think it's 1,570...

7 girls times 2 legs each = 14

7 girls * 7 backpacks each with a big cat = 49 big cats...49 * 4 = 196

49 big cats * 7 little cats = 343 little cats...343 * 4 = 1,372

14 + 196 + 1,372 = 1,570

Whatever the answer, there's a lot of pussy on that bus.

10,992 legs

7 kids = 14 legs

7 back packs per kid * 7 kids = 49 back packs

7 big cats * 49 back packs = 343 big cats

343 big cats *4 legs= 1372 big cat legs

343 big cats * 7 little cats = 2401 little cats = 9604 little cat legs

14+1372+9604= 10,990 legs

10,990+2 for the driver = 10,992

whoops...I didn't read the question carefully enough (always my excuse in school, lol). Here is my new answer...

7 girls times 2 legs each = 14 little girl legs

7 girls * 7 backpacks each * 7 big cats in each bag = 343 big cats...343 * 4 = 1,372 big cat legs

343 big cats * 7 little cats = 2,401 little cats...2,401 * 4 = 9,604 little cat legs

14 + 1,372 + 9,604 = 10,990

7big=49 little cats=56 total cats per backpack x7 backpacks =392 cats per girl x 7girls=2744 cats total x 4 legs each=10976 legs of cats

7 girls x 2 legs =14

10976+14=10990?

agree, but it doesn't say that there is a driver on the bus. You can't assume variables in math, you can only use what's given to you.

1 Girl =
2 legs
7 Backpacks
49 Big Cats - 196 legs
343 Little Cats - 1372 legs
Total for one girl = 1570 Legs * 7 Girls + the Driver = 10992

I know, but then who opened the door to let the little kids on? And if they are not driving to school why are they on the bus? HAHA

I just figured it was one of those trick questions that they say older people cant answer because we think to literally while kids think outside the box.
