Rendering Pictures

So what technique do you guys prefer? I use the Pen Tool and take my time going around, copy paste to a new layer and mess around with effects.

Is this to chop out the car from the background? I'll do a few things depending on the pic, sometimes if theres a huge contrast I'll use the magic wand to create a border between the car and background then erase. Or I'll pen tool or I'll do a selection box of the car and just use the eraser tool.

Also you still have to do something with the windows so that the background isn't still in them.

damn, i forgot about the windows, thx!

and yes, rendering is eliminating the background and making the picture pop out. I used the pen tool and then i erased the background. had to go around it a few times to get it right but it came out pretty cool none the less. gotta fix the windows thats all lol.

try usin the quick mask mode after using the lasso tool to do a rough selection in ps, it makes it easier for me to make quick selections. itll make a 50% red opacity to show u the areas u are selecting and it allows u to use black or white brushes to paint around ur edges to help fine tune them and its nice cuz if u select too much or too little u just pick the other color. once u have painted what u wanna select just go back to the normal mode and ull see the little marching ants showing ur selection

I was thrown off by this title. rendering is really a lot more then just Photoshoping a picture. Rendering is, generally either drawing and or painting, or designing in a computer design software, mapping textures to it, and then rendering, (which is when the computer process all the lighting, refraction, reflection, etc etc and then displays what the end result is. I do a decent amount of CAD renderings for my work. My roomate models and renders stuff every day for michael graves.

But anyway I generally just use the selection tools, and take my time, adding or deleting areas of my selection, but i like YellowMSP's way, and will try that out in the future.

Rendering an image means to create something computer generated from scratch, that normally takes some computing time to RENDER.
It doesnt mean to cut out a car from an existing image and put it on a black background.

Right, which is why i was confused by the title but whatever. I think the magnetic lasso or magic wand are really easy things that cut down on time but dont always work out for the best.

planetrenders.net

rendering is also known for cutting an object from a picture to make it pop out. like above. i'm sure the form of rendering your talking about is right, but there is also another form.
