Basketball
Is there a trick to shooting moving objects or a certain setting thats key to capturing the picture?? I was trying to mess around with the ISO and Shutter but couldnt get it to my liking so I kept it on "Sport" mode which is suppossed to focous on the moving object It's a D40x with the 18-55MM Lens on it (nothing fancy right now) I'll upload some shots that came out somewhat ok in a bit...

I did one of these when I first got my D50 a couple years ago and had the same problem with terribly blurry pics. The lighting in the basketball court just isn't bright enough to be able to shoot at a high enough shutter speed do get decent exposures. Best way to go about this imo would probably be to pop the flash at low intensity or get a good external flash.

for gym lighting i dont think the lens u have will help u get the results u were looking for. i looked at the exif on some of these and they were around 800 iso, f5.6 and about 1/25 exposure. for shooting sports ur gonna need a shutter speed that is a lot faster, minimally probably around 1/250, to help stop the action and not get as much blur. ull either need to raise ur iso or better, get a new faster lens thatll help get more light in (like the nifty fifty would be a good start)

Thanks for the input guys, I'm still learning at all of this and I knew the preset "Sport" setting wasn't cutting it I just didnt have much time to learn what to do properly before I left for the game, So I did my best.
P.s. Whats the Nifty Fifty, 55-200mm Lens?

50mm f1.8 they are very cheap and allow u to use faster shutter speed because it lets more light in. i think u can find a new one for around $80ish
