Employment Opportunity!

** Update: Due to the amount of responses I have received. When you email your resume, please include in the email: forum, and member name! Thanks**

Hey gang. As some of you know, I landed a job over in Montgomery County, PA this past October. Moved into an apartment in Lansdale and have been converted to a PA Boy versus Jersey Boy. I just want to give some fellow Tri-State Tuners a chance at their first career or change of careers.

The Vice President of Product Management and my previous Product Group Director have asked me to recruit more individuals like myself for the company. I work for Dorman Products in Colmar, PA. ( www.dormanproducts.com ) . There is actually another TST member (Ryan) within the company. The company sells Automotive Aftermarket Parts. Car sales might go down from time to time, but like medicine, people need their current vehicles fixed! This is a good industry to be a part of. The Vice President of Marketing is looking for Product Managers and Assistant Product Managers. My previous Product Group Director is looking for a couple of Assistant Product Managers.

I started as an Assistant Product Manager. I have had minor experiences with product management while being a Used Car Manager for 6 months. This experience has been different. However, it has been very rewarding. I started with a great salary, health, dental, and 401K benefits. You would get the same as an Assistant Product Manager and an even higher starting salary as a Product Manager.

I have recently been promoted to a Product Manager in another group, hence my old Product Group Director's need for a couple of new Assistant Product Managers. A Bachelors Degree in a Marketing related field is required. As an Assistant Product Manager, you may have a little to no Product Management experience. Those who feel they have had a few years experience as a Product Manager in the same or unrelated industry, might want to investigate a Product Management position. However, if you are the type of individual that wants or is driven to learn and be successful, this is the place for you.

The key with this company is your attitude. I honestly after interviewing did not think I was going to get this job. However, they saw something and gave me a chance. They really do take people under their wing and give them the opportunities to be successful. My experience has been awesome. I am also the type of person intrigued by learning new things. That is a big part of being a part of this company, the ability to take in and learn from your environment (other APM's, PM's, Directors, Sales, VP's.) Everything to make a good career and a good dollar is here.

To get an even better picture of the company, this was my first day here. My desk was setup. Had all the supplies I needed, even my damn name plate. In addition, you are given a sponsor so if you do have any questions, I MEAN ANY, they are there to help you with your adjustments to the new career. Your sponsor takes you to lunch. You are given a tour and officially introduced to all the staff, as long as they are in the building. They call everyone contributors around here, not employees.

In addition, they helped me relocate. I chose to move out here versus having the commute. But they helped me find a place. I play on the damn hockey team. There are a lot of events/tournaments/contests in the company. It really is a neat place to work, gets stressful at times, but nothing out of this world. However, everyone is here to help.

If you are interested, feel free to contact me here or my email at work: tconnolly@dormanproducts.com. I will also be posting this on a few other forums that I am an active member on. Feel free to forward this to any of your friends, family, or other forums. Chances are, you will probably have a non formal interview with me at a meet or cruise. We can discuss the company and whatever questions you might have. Whatever the case, if you do hold a Bachelors Degree in a Marketing related field and are still on the job hunt like I was, or are currently looking for something else/better, this might be your opportunity! It certainly was mine.

Update: I sent an email to the Vice President of Product Management. This was his reply,

"From: (For confidentiality, name was removed)

To: Tim Connolly
Subject: RE: Forum Post

Thanks… I really appreciate your efforts. Keep in mind, I do not care entirely about background… It's all about the intangibles."
