Trying to install some on 8gauge SS line but not having any luck. Anyone have any tips?

Sorry if this is the wrong spot to post this.

wrap the ss end with masking tape - a couple layers
mark and cut with a saw.
clean the end of any shavings, DIP it in MOTOR OIL - (BIG HELP)
put on the compression fitting - helps to have a VICE to hold the fitting
screw on the other end- helps to have a VICE

The tape and oil are a big help, otherwise you are going to end up with scratched up fittings. There are special tools that can be used to insert the hose into the fitting, but a vise with padded teeth will work just as well.

Damn, thats exactly what I was doing yesterday. The fitting would go on, but not seem very secure and after I threaded the other part on half way it would pop off. I tried installing the same fitting about 10x, do they have some kind of limit, it seems there is a good bit of aluminum dust (not shavings just fine particles) in the fitting.. not sure if thats normal so I thought I would mention it, maybe I will try another one.

i think the hose is not all the way in- you should see the hose butt up against the inside of the compression fitting.

also if it helps have someone push against the hose while you thread.. so it doesn't pop out

Update:

You need to turn the fitting counterclockwise. That was our issue.
