WTF Smell??? (Pic Included)
But then I smelled it again, when on the road by myself. Then once again, when I parked my car and got out. So now I'm like wtf. So I checked my oil, even though it doesn't smell like an oil burn. Seems fine. I thought maybe my clutch was going. But then after thinking about it, that can't be it, because it starts to smell once the car gets warm, like if I turn it on in the morning and let it warm up for like 10-15 minutes, it will start. So today, I briefly check over things under the hood again, then I drop down on the ground take a look under the car and see this on my x-pipe. ![]() WTF is that? I wonder if that is causing the smell, once the exhaust gets hot enough? I'm at work so I really don't have the time to get into it, but I did touch it and it feels super gooey/rubbery but oddly hard too, and definitely not rubbing off easy. Sorry but it's a camera phone pic. |

I stuck my face as close as I could to it, and still can't figure out WTF it is lmao. I just want to know if it's causing the smell, or if I have some other engine issue going on. Hopefully it's this stupid **** and not a leak. |

Yeah that's what I was thinking, when I can get the time. Thing is, it doesn't smell like a dead animal smell. Smells more like...I dunno, a burnt styrofoam smell, or something to that effect.

exactly. plastic bag. just crawl under there with a razor blade and go at it. If you want to make it a littler easier, let the car get warm, and wear gloves so you dont burn yourself.

Aha stupid bag. That's probably what it is too. Which would also explain the nasty plastic like smell. Guess once I get it off, I'll know for sure. Fun. And it's COLD outside.
And I don't have a grinder so looks like I might have to use sand paper, or let it warm up and use gloves and scrape at it. |

LoL.. Same thing happened to me. At first I thought I was burning some wires somewhere until I saw the white plastic bag on the exhaust.
