So... Supra guys, check in... List make, model, year, color, mods if you want, post a pic if you want, and post your general area if you feel comfortable with that.

Just picked up a black 94 Supra TT 6MT. Its not running now but will be by the spring. Has a handful of mods which I probably wont be adding much to yet at least, but its making the most of the stock turbos. You wont see me in it just yet since its not running but I live in the Langhorne/Newtown, PA area...
here's what it looks like although I dont know if I'll be keeping the wheels or not...

Brian you're a lucky SOB :D. Please tell me you didn't take those pics LOL. I've been waiting for a good deal for a while... If you don't want the wheels, I might take them off your hands for a good price. I think they should fit my IS.

originally an 88 turbo 5spd, targa, all the good stuff
Chassis specs: h&r lowering springs, 18" ruff racing wheels, 275/45/18 dunlops on rear, 255/35/18 michelins up front. kaminari rear and side skirts, 89+ 3pc spoiler, custom short shifter. 7m specs: je pistons, greddy type-s, megan racing dp, some ****ty welded exhaust. The 7m surprisingly claimed a few lives in its glory: 85 trans am(nothing special), dead even with an evo. not a bad piece until it blew 1jz specs: stock motor, stock twins =[, 24x9x3 driftmotion fmic, driftmotion 2.5" ic piping, no dp yet, stage 2 clutch, 935motorsports lightweight flywheel, arp flywheel bolts. The 1jz swap that will last forever. pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Not exactly mine, it my little brother's, but I'm building it for him and drive it for the most part. It's got a basically stop 7mgte, ARP studs, new stock head gasket, every possible thing that isn't needed is stripped from the engine besides extra wiring which will be done this winter. It's got the prototype TIP Engineering Spring/Damper setup on there (best suspension for the Mk3 or mk4 supra), TIP steering spacers, big boy wheels, 18x9.5+12 all around. I will be putting a crazy cage in there and redoing all the wiring and getting rid of the rest of the stuff that isn't needed. Car will be under 3k lbs with the cage and in race trim. That's about it for now, it will be getting a bunch of stuff done over the winter and hopefully paint before the season starts.

go metal. 1.2mm hks if your head is good and never been shaved stock headgasket will give you a problem when you add boost, shim the gate etc. I waited 3 more days for my mhg. you should too. horsepowerfreaks.com 100 bucks. MHG ( metal head gasket) is manditory for any moded 7m!!!! take it from MR. rodknock 7mgte blown hg = bad rod bearings + rod knock = |

What are you talking about, the stock head gasket is fine at moderate power levels. The only reason there was ever a problem with the 7m and blowing head gaskets was too low of a head bolt torque from the factory. The stock head gasket with ARP studs is good for a little bit. It will be fine for all the power I plan on making on the stock turbo.
Metal head gasket isn't necessary and it takes a lot more work to make sure it will seal. You need to really check the block or get it decked and make sure it's good and you have to make sure the head is good as well, but that's easier and should be done anyway. And what does "blown hg = bad rod bearings + rod knock = " mean? Rod knock and blown headgasket are totally different things that have totally different causes.

but if your going to boost more than 10 lbs. you might want to consider what I'm saying. shimming the wastegate and intake exhaust will put you there or very close. Thats all free stuff. now get a mbc and your looking at? it's too easy!!!! mhg- It is a good ideal to checkthe head. if you never had a bhg, you should be ok. I had one and I got lucky because I didn't let it run hot long. "head suffered no warpage. I just slaped mine on torqued to 100 lbs. of torque. You put it on the same way as the stocker. arp's are the way to go, no doubt. do not use the book 52 lbs. of torque. some say 85, 75, 100 lbs. but at least 75. and finnalllllly bhg- coolant leaks in oil, coolent erodes the bearing (bearings are very sensitive to coolent) now bearing are shot. ..... you hear a noise. you have a problem. look man, our car takes to well to mods. before you know it you will be pushing that gasket to the limit. it would be a shame if you have to go through what I have. A wize man would concider what I said but, maybe I'm just talking out my ass. Eventhough I had to rebuild a year old jdm 7mgte new crank, connecting rods, and pistion rings and wrist pins. Because coolent leacked in the #6 pistion and into my oil pan. I paid dearly for that mistake. |

The car is not going to stay stock, but the 7m isn't going to stay around for long.
But the stock head gasket, torqued properly with a good mating surface and good hardware isn't not going to blow as easy as you think. I don't know where you're getting your info, but someone is misleading you. If it's just from personal experience, then maybe you're doing something wrong because I've heard of a lot of people pushing good power out of a stock head gasket. With a MHG, it's not just a good idea to check the head, it's necessary. It's also necessary to check the block. I hope for your sake that you did otherwise there's a good chance you will have sealing problems. And if you have a blown head gasket long enough to spin a bearing and you didn't realize, then maybe you need to pay more attention to the car. Bearings don't disolve when exposed to anti-freeze, it takes some time for the anti-freeze to thin the oil enough to cause problems.

once you get a fuel cut defenser you can go up past 10. I hear people take the stocker to 18 lbs. breifly. 15 is what people normally stop at. I just feel it's best to be safe. even if you don't go crazy but I think your gonna want to be safe. it's just too easy to reach the limit. then when you get their you'll start worrying. will this be the day? Thats living in fear. If your putting a roll cage in a supra...you got to be kidding me you wouldn't even think of going MHG. I would advise you to look at supramania.com. I hope you listen to what I'm saying. you will always want more power, face it you got a supra. not a 86 corolla.
It might help to let us know what your plans for the car. drifting, street, etc? |
