Just a random/weird question ...

Every so often i see a police officer in my town ( Middletown, NJ ) flip the lights on and go through a red light, take them off and keep driving the speed limit.
Ive also have seem them do it at stop signs , and u turns.

My dad always flips out and gives the "should be role models" speech and says hes going to call the station and tell them which car is was .. etc.


I keep telling him its not worth his time, but he insists he wants to.

Is there anything against that, or will it just be laughter after he gets off the phone with them?

As you know not all calls for service are emergencies. But poeple do expect the police to show up promptly and in most cases your still never fast enough for them. As far as the police using their lights to u-turn or to pass through at stop sign or traffic light this is done to stop and alert other drivers that they need to assist the police in letting them turn around, proceed on or get into traffic so that they can complete the assignment given to them. That would be a code 1 dispatch.

They might also need to go to the bathroom now you know if you had lights and a siren you'd use them too!
