i used the plastic only polish for jeep soft top windows to remove scratches on my 30 gig ipod video. it worked ok but i was sweating bullets doing it. not sure how it would work on an lcd tv though. could make it a hell of a lot worse. i'd say that if you gently drag your fingernail across the scratch and can feel it catch you're probably screwed. if it's shallow enough not to feel it when you go across then try the polish and hope for the best. good luck.

I would advise against pushing on the screen for extended periods of time.. you'll just end up bursting the pixels. Surprised that BJ's will exchange it.. good luck Drew!

I can't remember the product, but there was a chemical used in the google-search for "iPod SCRATCH REPAIR" that works wonders.
I just ran out, lemme see if I can find the name of it...

good point. if they'll exchange it , go for it. even if you're the only one that knows about the scratch you'll always drift to it.I have a little stone chip on the passenger side of my windshield. not even close to where i look during normal driving. i see the damn thing every time i drive and its been there for 5 months. lol.

thanks a lot james
honestly, i'm real hesitant to put anything on the screen that's abrasive, chances are i'd mess up and leave horrible swirl marks. i'm just gunna own up on this one, the scratch is only noticable when the TV is off so i'm not sweating it. it's up on the boarder anyways.. it's my fault so it isn't right to return it to BJ's. live and learn, no biggy i'll just be more careful with my next TV

If they offered to exchange it, I'm not sure that I would even ask the question. It's a no brainer, and I know that at first the little scratch might not be a problem, but it will slowly grow as a stupid nuisance. |

Well please don't use anything abrasive on the LCD, it will ruin it. You aren't even suppose to use things like Windex or any other kind of cleaners like that on them.
You can't remove scratches from an LCD period. The whole moving your finger along it and see if it catches made me laugh though...that idea is true on cars, because cars have a clearcoat, which can be buffed and polished out. TV's don't have clearcoats lmao, so polishing them isn't going to work. |

Brasso works on the ipod because it works on the plastic cover over the lcd screen. I have done it before any ways and it only did an ok job leaving sizable scratches there. I would say if you don't care about it just keep it, but if you do take it back. I personally would take it back, but that's just me.

You can polish an Ipod because it has a protective plastic sreen that is getting sratched, not the LCD screen itself. And yes, never use Windex on your LCD screens. Go to CC/BB/WWS etc and get some Monster screen cleaner with microfiber towels. You use them when the screen is cold, and you put a thin layer on and wash the screen, and then put another thin layer on and BUFF the screen. It's basically plastic wax for your TV.
