My Garage progress thread

Just wanted to post up some pics of the garage setup since moving into the new townhouse, and also use it as kind of a journal as I continue to improve it.

Right now I just needed to make the garage functional, the cosmetic side will come in the spring when I paint the walls and epoxy the floor. Other functional items though to come next year will include an air compressor and a few other tools/items. All in due time.

Thanks to Scott (sje0123) for his help setting things up.

But here it is for now! For reference, the ladder is 8ft. tall. I think the dimensions are roughly 20x20x11

Blank canvas

After my current upgrades

Gotta love flourescent lighting.

Yeah, I'll be doing the painting and epoxy floor in the spring. That'll be a fun weekend.

Most of the car parts are actually down in the storage area of the basement. I still need to get a nice rolling toolchest as well, crossing my fingers Santa drops one off this Christmas.

Thanks. The lighting was definitely worth it. I've had neighbors say it looks like a frickin' spaceship at night.

LOL, how many lights do you have up? I have 7 dual bulb florescent lights up in my parents 27' W x 23' L x 8'4" T garage that I've been working on. It gets real bright, and at night, if the door is open, it looks like everything is glowing almost a blue color.

The bulbs are supposed to be in the light / color range needed for painting (as far as fluorescent goes)... I'll see how that goes next year.

Next year I'm epoxying the floor and putting up a ceiling... right now its just 4mil plastic stapled up with r30 insulation up there also.

Any idea on colors and/or a scheme you are going with?

Looks awesome Josh! The floor will make cleaning up all of those spills a breeze!

SR20forum has a whole forum dedicated to garages. There are a lot of nice ideas you can get from there.

I've been looking at www.garagejournal.com lately, but I'll have to check out www.garagaforums.com and get even more ideas. Some of the stuff on there is just nuts!

As far as lights go, I'm using 4 shop lights that use two bulbs each. I believe the bulbs are 40w, but not exactly sure.
