Can we please have a damn computer tech section. It can be called "Ask the Whiz" like someone else said lol. Damnit I should get post counts for this sh!t haha. So I can have all the computer problems in one area lol.
Ok seriously, this is on a PC not a laptop right? If on a PC, then go into safe mode, completely uninstall the card. Then shut down the computer, and move the card to a DIFFERENT PCI slot. Then boot the computer back up and see if it works. Did the drivers come with their own setup that you run? If so, instead of using it, see if you can go to "Device Manager" and check to see if there is an unknown device in there. If there is, then open it up, and install the drivers manually from there, pointing to the folder where you downloaded and extracted the driver files. Give that a shot. And are you sure that PC won't recognize it? Or does it install and you can't see any wireless networks? If what I said above doesn't work, give me more details and I'll help you further. |

Ok if I can explain that one step better...ummm...
I don't want you to install it from an exe. I wanted to know if you got the actual files extracted into a folder, and instead of using the .exe file, go through device manager and click update driver or install driver on the unknown device, and point it to the (usually .inf) file. Search the net for your model card, and maybe use a different set of drivers. |

OK UPDATE!!!!
Moved it to another PCI slot and now it works, it conneceted to my network, and says enabled. BUT it wont connect to the internet. or aim. Yet it says its connected and everything looks in working order. Its an unsecure network (until i get mine setup). I dont understand why it wont connect. i even rebooted. |

If you go into Device Manager, and you go to Network Devices, does the card show w/ an exclaimation point? or a question mark?
And to try a different PCI slot, make sure that the software is uninstalled first. Then, turn off computer, and change PCI slots. Reboot computer, and see if Windows is even reconizing it before you install the software again (if its XP, most likely itll have drivers, even for older devices, Vista MIGHT not have support natively for it, depending on the age of the card. In that case, reinstall the software as soon as its booted)
