Anyone have any info on the EVO IX?

I've found some pics and whatnot and some specs, but does ANYONE
know when it is coming to dealerships???

I don’t think the dealers even know when the IX is coming. There’s a thread about this on EvoM.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=153340

There’s mass confusion about when it’s coming… maybe October or November? Don’t know? I haven’t heard anything concrete.

Wow, I like the look of the IX a lot.

only bad thing is, it looks like the suspension is a little too soft for me. Back right tire is off the ground on that corner. Tsk tsk. I can't have that. I want it to slideeeeeee.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought when the tires actually started to lift on the corners that meant the suspension was stiff... not soft.

If it were soft the car would just roll rather than lift a wheel.

Btw, I love that car....

Although, I think I'll wait for the X. I think it would fit me better considering I've got a gsX.

Stock saturn suspension will allow the car to roll over on turns from letting the tires lift. Definitely not a stiff suspension there.

A stiffer suspension won't allow the side to compress as much, thereby leaving the body fairly rigid and helping it to slide through the turns a bit easier.

Not disagreeing, but I think it has to do with more than spring stiffness, but also how the car is set up. (bound/rebound, chassis stiffness, etc). Lots of FWD autocross cars are set up VERY stiff and lift rear tires all the time. My .02, I agree with 2point4.

And on topic, an Evo wagon would be all-out awesome, I will be ALL over that... in 10 years when I can afford one. I will admit that the IX's do look very nice, not much of a departure from the VIII, but they're good looking anyway.

You are crazy. It is a huge departure from the 8. The opening in the grille is open all the way across, no center divider. The bumper has more of an EVO 7 feel to it. The rear bumper(in Japan) is wayyyy cooler than the 8's is. If I had kept the EVO, it would have gotten traded on a IX.

I just looked at some pictures, and the front end does look a lot different. I love how the grill is now open (how it should be) and how clean the new bumper looks. I guess I was just so suprised by Subaru's huge departure that I was comparing the two.

Well that's because the IX is the VIII slightly redesigned. The Evo X for 2007 is going to be entirely redesigned.

If you want a car that slides, put lunch trays under your rear wheels and pull the ebrake up.
