I'm new to the xbox 360, so I'm hoping someone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong or if Xbox live is down.

I picked up a 360 about a week ago and created a gamertag with the trial xbox live gold subscription. It worked fine, and I downloaded a few demos. Other than that I haven't signed on much at all.

So today I moved the console to a different spot and changed which router it's plugged into and now I can't sign on. I get the message "Some profiles could not be signed on..." and I test the connection. Everything passes.

So I search xbox.com support and it says I may need to recover my gamertag. So I go through that (enter my gamertag, email, password, etc.) and at the end I get a message that the Xbox live signup service is down.

So is it something on my end or with xbox live?

those free trials are usually only good for a day or two...maybe that ran out

I thought they were good for a month.

No I don't think that was it, the trial is supposed to be good for a month and then it automatically goes to silver.

I tried making a new gamertag and that worked. The other one must have gotten corrupted somehow. Typical Microsoft and their buggy software I guess...

You cant PLAY with a Silver account...can you?
