Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Some more reliable pitchers would also be nice. Mainly ones who can pitch well when the season begins.

I think the Phillies will be a very strong team in the NL next season. Do I think they could beat some of the powerhouses in the AL? I don't think so...

there's no one available. The only way we're going to get a decent starter is by trade. I heard a trade possibility a couple weeks ago...but never heard it again. It was a straight trade with the Twins: Santana(LHP) for Rollins. Then the Phills would probally go after D. Eckstein as a lead off and short stop through free agency. I didn't like that at all considering your replacing a player who plays everyday for one who pitches only every 5 days or so.
But Santana is a stud!

i saw on espn today that the phillies offered mike lowell a 4yr/$50mil deal that he considered for a while before turning it down. that woulda been a great pickup for them

No big name pitcher wants to come to the Phillies because of their ballpark, they made it too small. To get a great pitcher they are gonna have to put up some big bucks to compensate for the pitchers ERA going ^.

actually that was speculation. Pat Gilick even denied the offer, but said they talked to him. The Phillies would have to be out of their mind to pay that kind of money to a guy who was "thrown in" with the trade involving Beckett...is as old as he is...and who don't even spend that kind of money for the talent they already have! LOL, espn clarified that the offer was never that, it was just speculated. But the Phills did talk to him.
I say if Rowand doens't change his mind on the years of his desired contract...go after Tori Hunter!!!!
