Rant. Probably not worth your time to read.

1997 Honda CR-V.

Of no particular importance to anyone on this site, in fact most people wouldn't even consider owning one. They are in their own class, too small to be an SUV, too big to be a car. They are an underpowered (gee really?) real-time all wheel drive hybrid of a class hunk of turd. Yeah I said it, Honda you suck. Not only did you gear it like crap but you gave it a whopping 115whp with 30lbs of torque to move damn near 3200lbs of metal and plastic. The thing gets maybe 20mpg city because I have to put my foot on the floor just to get the damn car/SUV/whatever to move with traffic.

Now, why does this matter. Well simple really, this has been my daily driver for the past month and I can no longer stand it. I'm about ready to drive it into a lake, but alas the vehicle belongs to my parents.

My only way out of this car is to buy a daily driver for myself. I've long since cast aside the idea of buying a 35mpg Civic. Just the thought of toiling along in an 18 second car bothers me, good MPG or not. So alas, I've decided that I want to pick up an LT1/LS1 Camaro. They get half decent gas mileage, and more importantly, will be a fun car to drive in stock/near stock state. Easy, right?

Apparantly not, I can't find a manual Z28 to save my life. It's as if they don't exist. I don't want to spend much more than 5K (not including title transfer/taxes) but it doesn't seem to matter, I haven't found ANY manual Camaros. This purchase would be my ticket out of hating my 45+ minute one way commute to school every day, it's the key for me to be able to go out and just enjoy a nice calming cruise again. I crave it terribly, I feel like a crack addict who hasn't had his fix in forever. Blah!

Note* - No, I will not buy an auto. It takes all the fun out of driving, which if you haven't guessed is the whole point of buying this car. Lol.

With winter coming and the fun cars going away, I'm sure many of you feel the same way.

If you can't find a manual LT1 car for under $5000 in your area, you aren't looking very hard. Try cz28.com and ls1tech.com, as well as your autotrader magazine.
