does this sounds like a scam?

so i put my car on craigslit and there was one time this lady from miami was showing intrest in my car. until she started to act fishy with me and i ask her for her phone number and she never got back to me..BUT i got this new chick now whos showing intrest.. here are the emails.. read from the email at the bottom to the top. by the way her name is Daisy Rostein and her email is
rosteind123@yahoo.com>

Hello ,
$16,000.00 is a fair deal.
Thanks for the reply and answering my question.
The best i can do is have my husband send you a certified business check.

Yes, you can wait for the check to clear before we proceed with shipping and others, thats okay with me.

Hope its okay, email me so i know what you think and send me some pics of the interior and exterior (front and rear view)

Regards.
Daisy.

hey how you doing, sorry to read this kinda late but i
am the second owner of the car. well i was actually
thinking of letting it go for 16500 but since i need
some tires ill let it go for 16000. the car is pretty
nice and clean. it has inspection until next year.
also the car need a new steering wheel pump which i
already have but im lazy to put it on. the steering
wheel get stif when parallel parking or making sharp
turns and you have to give it some gas to let loose.
other then that the car runs perfect and its also
fast. its very fun in the snow.if you got any more
question ill be happy to answer and maybe we can work
something out.
thanks for writing.

Tell them that they fail for trying to sending a check through the mail...only accept checks that are from the person buying the car. She said her husband will send you a certified buisness check, no! Or you can play into it and wait untill she says cash the check and send the extra chash back to her via monygram or some scammy ish.

take the check to the bank and have it looked over by one of the managers there... then ask them how long it will take for the check to clear fully, 100%, no backing out... its longer than you think.
i'd personally recommend a USPS money order but i dont know if they will go that high.
there are a lot of scammers on craigslist and i have no idea how she found your local listing from 1500 miles away... i think its a scam personally but who knows, just cover your ass.

I don't know how USPS money orders work, but I think after $2000 they fill out a suspiscous person report which gets sent to the FBI. I don't think you want that.

I got a fake certified check when I tried to sell my truck on autotrader. They say it can take up to a month for the bank to discover its a fake check. I was selling the car for 18,000 and they sent a check for 24,500 wanting the remaining money claiming they already got the check for another deal that fell through. So in short never take a check for more then what the price you are selling for. I knew something was wrong so I checked it out on the internet and saved myself from getting scammed.

As long as you remember:
1. Find out as much as you can about the buyer.
2. Find out EVERYTHING about the method of payment.
3. Find out EVERYTHING about how they plan on recieving the item for sale
4. Don't give out personal information unless then sale has been completed and everything is planned to go smoothly and is already in motion.
5. Don't take checks for more than the sale amount.

You should be safe

Having just bought a car myself, if they trust you enough to send you a check then it's a scam. I wouldn't give the guy i'm buying the car from anything until I had all kinds of stuff signed and verified.

The worst part is the bank will put the money in your account so it looks like its cleared the you go and spend the money and the bank finds out its a counterfeit check then they come after you for the money which you spent = screwed. If something seems too good to be true it usually is.

scam!! i had someone do that to me when selling my T2, they sent me a walmart money order for 4000 and i went to walmart and i asked them is this real and the first thing out of the girls mouth was, we only do money orders up to 1000 at a time. so yes it is fake! so be very very careful. i know i got a check from someone on ebay and i held on to the item for over a month just to make sure it clears up. be very careful

Tell her to call you. If she doesn't, no sale. Easiest way to tell if it's a scammer or not.

true.. craigslist exists for local people to find each other... its a 'meet in person' kind of deal... so if they're asking to do otherwise thats gotta throw up the flag.

Can the same be said for Paypal? Someone showed some interest in my Talon and said he was going to send the money via paypal before picking it up or anything. I told him cash when he picked it up would be fine since I didn't feel like having Paypal take 140 from me for the sale. He then said he'd give me the $140 in cash when he picked it up or he'd include that in the paypal amount. I just thought it sounded a little weird.

coming from someone who sells a lot of cars....

thats a scam.

i sell a car using many forums and craigslist and i always get these kind of emails..

my biggest red flag is when they say "regards", ask hardly any specific questions... dont ask for a phone number etc...

if they want your car, they'll call you.

if they want to scam you they'll try to make you think they like what they see so much that they want it no questions asked

also, i require cash when i sell a car.

sometimes it takes a day or two longer..... but if they really do have the money, and they really do want your car, they'll get their check turned into cash one way or another.

good luck...

if you have any questions feel free to pm me, ive sold about 20 cars privately in the past few years i can help you out with any questions you may have.
