As some of you know I had my car up in the for sale section. Well it sold as of Saturday 9/29 and I got this car Wednesday 10/3. It's a 1998 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT. Bought this off my dad's friend for $9,000 (he could have gotten 11k easily). This car is simply a beast. It has a 4.6L DOHC V8, different then most mustangs since there are some with the 5.0 SOHC 16 valve and 4.6 16 valve as well. It's got the mach 640 watt in it that sounds awesome, great system. I might have got a little more power like roughly 5 hp/5 ft. lb torque by taking the air silencer off (info here) and put a K&N air filter since it had to be replaced anyway.

Performance:

305 hp @ 5800 rpm, 300 lbs-ft @ 4800 rpm
Redline 6800 rpm
13.99 seconds @ 101.6 mph
0-60 in 5.9 seconds
Top speed: 152 mph

Stopping power:
4 wheel vented disc
Front Brakes: 13 in. vented disc PBR twin-piston caliper
Rear Brakes: 11.65 in. vented disc, single-piston caliper
Three-channel Bosch ABS System

Nice looking SVT...ha welcome to the family lol.

The 5.0's stopped in 95. 1996 started the 4.6l. GT's were sohc, still are. Cobras are dohc, as was the 2003 Mach 1.

You aren't gonna feel anything from dropping just the filter in. Get rid of that restrictive intake, thats a great 1st mod for them.

I had a 98 Stang as well, enjoy it.

Thanks for the comments guys. I couldn't let this deal pass being this clean and everything for 9k when he got people interested at 11k. So it was a generous thing my dad's friend did. I can feel such a slight difference in power with the silencer out and K&N as well, it's breathing better thats why and it's sounds better too on WOT. I ordered a Bassani Cat-back that I've great things about on mustangforums.com so that V8 will really sound awesome once that's in

Bassani makes great exhaust for the stangs. I have a Bassani offroad xpipe on mine.

Oh good another good review lol, everyone seems to like the x-pipe but how about the cat-back? I've heard a soundclip of a bassani cat-back on a 00' gt and it sounded really good so I'm sure mine will be just as nice if not nicer (being 4v/cyl)?

Their catbacks are great too. Good sound. I happen to have Borla Stingers catback on mine...but if I ever change setup, (which I probably won't cuz I really like the sound and loudness lol) I would go with Bassani all the way.

Sweet man good to hear. Hopefully I'll get it in the mail sometime early next week and have them installed from my friend right away.
