has any1 ever gotten reckless driving before

yesterday i was pulled over in VA doing 92 in a 65. i have to go to court because reckless driving is a misdemeanor and its a max of 12 months in jail in $2500 fine. has anybody been pulled over for this in VA. i wanna hear what u got and how fast u were goin. im ****tin myself right now cuz i wouldnt last a day in jail n i really cant afford that ****. should i bring my own lawyer or get a court appointed one, the lady said i probably would be eligible since im a student down there at tech. should i plead guilty, the person i talked to on the phone from the court house said they rarely drop the speed when its that high.

cliff notes: pulled over for reckless driving in VA, its a misdemeanor(max 12 mo in jail/$2500 fine), has any1 gotten this? should i plead guilty?

What were you doing exactly? Any room for an actual case?

ummmmmmmmm, no.

I didn't even have to think about it, just used the ummmmmmm for dramatic effect. Seriously, of course not. Why the hell would you plead guilty to such a serious charge?

The worse that can happen by pleading NOT guilty is the same as pleading guilty. And that is the absolute bottom of the barrel scenario.

Yes. Strike a deal if you can..but I would like to hear what you did...b/c if its not as "bad", then you have a MUCH better case.

well i was passing an RV that was in the left lane not goin at a constant speed. i was just passing n then started to slow down. there was a rsx-s that was in front of me n he kept speeding up. we both got pulled over n the cop asked if we were street racing and i said no, because we wernt n i had no intention to. that isnt on the summons the street racing thing so i dont even want to mention it when i goto court.

should i get my own lawyer or get a court-appointed one?

Well a license could be taken regardless lol. Fight it, but honestly, be truthful with your folks. You want to ball out with lawyers you'll prolly need their help.

plead not guilty, go to court, talk to the "arresting" officer and see if you can strike a deal with him/her. more likely than not, the judge wont drop it as easily as the officer will. if you can get it down to careless driving you should be way better off. i dont think a lawyer is absolutely necessary

Sorry, not too much advice except get your own lawyer. But damn, VA is tough. I've had 2 reckless in NJ and never had to deal with anything close to that.

Get a lawyer, and you better tell your parents about it because they are going to find out regardless. I'm pretty sure a class 1 misdemeanor is the worst kind of misdemeanor. You are better of going and talking to a lawyer it may cost a pretty penny but it could save your ass.

Woah woah hold on here.

If teggers has a PA license, then the reckless will not transfer.

Q: What violations committed in a member state will result in the suspension of my driving
privilege in PA?

A: The following offenses, if committed in a member state, would be treated as though the offense had
occurred in Pennsylvania and the appropriate sanction would be imposed under the provisions of our
Vehicle Code:
• Manslaughter or negligent homicide resulting from the operation of a motor vehicle (Section
3732);
• Driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or a narcotic to a degree
which renders the driver incapable of safely driving a motor vehicle (Section 3731);
• Failure to stop and render aid in the event of a motor vehicle accident resulting in the death or
personal injury of another (Section 3742);
• Any felony in the commission of which a motor vehicle is used (Crimes Code and Dangerous Drug
Act Offenses).

Although reported to PennDOT, minor traffic offenses such as speeding, red light, stop sign, etc., will
(NOT) appear on your driving record, unless you are a CDL holder. Points will not be assessed to
your PA driving record when convicted of a point related offense in a DLC member state.
