Gonna get a G37 - mods?

I test drove one today at Englewood, and I think it will be my next car. I'm a newbie, so please don't flame if my questions aren't specific enough.

If I wanted to put about $5K into the brand new car to improve HP and wheels and tires, where should I start - without voiding the warranty?

Thanks!

nothing, anything voids warranties now. i have an 05 wrx and i put a bov on it the day after i got it and poof there goes the warranty.

for 5k i would say wait a month or 2 longer and make it 7k and turbo that ish. forget wheels n tires. personally i would do suspension then other goodies but thats just me.

Thanks. So does that mean a turbo won't void the warranty??

No an it will, I dont even think they have a turbo kit for that car yet. Exhaust an Intake dont void any big warranty's an idk how the G's work but Nissan will warranty Nismo stuff. Though that still doesnt help cause they really dont make alot of the G37s there still busy trying to produce stuff for the G35s an Z. Anyway exhaust an intake a probably things i'd aim for first being that dont void any worth caring about after that no clue not a big fan of the G37's.

Injen, stillen and fujita or something have a intake for each throttle body, that is about 10hp at the wheels or so, add a exhaust, headers you should havel close to 350hp, not bad.

every intake comp will have two pipes, the engine has two TB's....what kind of comment was that>? i feel like im taking crazy pills.

NA mods on most sports cars these days do very little. most sports cars from the factory these days are pretty decent breathers so the typical bolt ons do very little. IHE will cost u about 2k and give u maybe 20 ish hp. is that worth it?

u said u wanted top spend 5k on hp wheels and tires, that depends on what wheels and tires u want bc a set of wheels will go from 1k to even 5k if ur a "baller"....whatever that is. so it may not leave u much to spend on hp.

id say spend the 5k on : suspension, a set of real brake pads, and tires. u will benefit the most from that.

if 330 hp bores u and u want hp mods then ur gonna need to save way more for a real FI kit and itll be a lil bit of time b4 a great setup comes out so ull have time to save for it.

call it 1500 for real coilovers, 1200 for real tires, and 400 for real pads front and rear....added to a G37 and thatd be one great car.

u wont feel the 20hp u get after 3k in mods but u will be amazed at the difference chassis work can do. thats where oems hold back the most to obtain a soft ride bc americans are pussies

good luck with it, hope u get the manual trans

very well said. i agree.

in answer to some questions up top... of course it depends on each manufacturer's warranty details, but in MOST cases, bolt on upgrades don't void anything except the item which you took off in order to upgrade. i.e. - if you put on a cat-back exhaust, your exhaust system is no longer warrantied. if you put on an intake, your intake system is no longer under warranty. of course the convenience in all of that is that there's no reason you shouldn't be able to slip your factory intake back on before a scheduled service, etc., then boom.. back under warranty because noone ever knew a thing. before you buy a new car, check into specifics, and don't be afraid to ask the salesman questions about those aftermarket parts. people upgrade and stay within gereral warranty guilelines all the time, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to as well.

Suspension, tires, and pads. Its already been said, but just to reiterate.

Your gonna have the power you want, but its gonna handle like a luxury oriented sports car, which means you can improve on it.

But why is this thread bumped after a month, for a useless and obvious post none the less.

We could get you a set of light weight wheels baddass wheelsand tires if you like. That and some coilovers would do wonders.
