holy wow. im not sure how to respond to that right away. it amazes me that something like that happened, and whats even more surprising is the fact that it was made public. I dont doubt this will cause an incredible uproar. I would have expected this type of thing to be kept a secret and the guy responsible let go privately with a made up reason. wow, just wow.

I'm sure there's a lot more things we don't know going on 24/7...

It's funny how we can slip up like that, I guess in the sense of them being stolen.. is what we're worried about.

LoL.. There not going to just explode out of the blue. There are more dangerous bombs flown over the US everyday. Probably just some kind of miscommunication on how to transport them to Barksdale AFB.

Yes, there are lots of things we don't know about but I'm sure 99% of those things won't wipe off North America from the face of the planet if something went wrong.

It's not like they slipped up like oh I misplaces my coffee mug, it's "Sh*t, has anyone seen 6 nuclear warheads?! I misplaced them!"

Or Hey guys I just lost 6 warheads don't worry, you won't feel a thing if they go off

You'd be foolish to think they have to be armed and fired to cause some serious damage. The fact is they still have a plutonium core and weapons grade plutonium is.....well yea....it's powerful.

Also if that plane went down for some unknown reason say bye bye the north america because warheads are only designed to be single point safe which means a serious accident COULD result in detonation

There has to be way more to the story than is being made public. First off, maybe I am wrong but I would assume that nuclear weapons are not stored with the standard arsenal. Second, again, maybe I am wrong, but I would think it takes top level clearance to get them out of storage not to mention mountains of paperwork. Third, I doubt the people loading the plane failed to notice the fact that they were loading NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I heard it was a "routine transfer" but if that is the case why the firing of an officer? If it was routine then why is it a story at all?

Then I heard it was a mistake, but honestly, how can it be a mistake. You don't mistakenly take nuclear weapons out of storage, mistakenly load them onto a plane and mistakenly take off, did nobody do their job? Its not like you need to practice loading them onto the jet, thats what dummy bombs are for.

I am not one for conspiracy theories but this cover story stinks and I am not buying it.

I'm not buying it either. The ammo guys who transport these kind of things would know what they are transporting and they would have gotten the clearance from above. The pilots and crew chiefs would have known what they are loading and transporting also. Maybe the simple fact that transporting them was to be a secret in the first place, but the word got out and they found themselves a scape goat. The media leaves ALOT of info out or gets alot of misinformation. The media will tell you what they want you to hear.

Yeah, nothing is making sense. It says they were supposed to be decommissioned. If that was the case than can't they bring the qualified personnel to the weapons rather than transporting a WMD to the people, I would hope the military has more common sense than that.

They also said they were loaded onto the wings. If they were in the bomb bay I might understand them being over looked but on the wings I can't buy it. I am just learning about being a pilot but one thing I have learned is that weight plays a key role in the amount of fuel loaded into the aircraft for the flight. Any responsible pilot would say hey, these 6 nuclear cruise missiles on my wings are going to require more fuel for the flight as they are adding weight and drag. Would nobody ask, what do you mean the 6 nuclear weapons on your wings?
