ususally a couple of screws take the airbag off (back of the wheel), then a bolt for the wheel, then you can access the clockspring. When you take the wheel off, mark when it is. Dont want it on crooked =)

before you take off the airbag your going to want to disconnect the battery (both terminals) bot at least 15 minz. and after that dont jar anything around too much or poke anything with anything else metal because the airbag could still possibly go off. try to find a service manual online and it will give better description but i do autobody and what i have said is what i learned

Have the dealer do it man. And please disconnect the battery. All you need is to make a small wrong move and wait til you see what an airbag costs. Clock springs aren't difficult to do but really let the trained techs do the job with something like a major safetly device.

I work at a dealer and my master tech calls me a dumbass all the time for following the air bag disarming procedure all the time cause I'm afraid of a bag blowing off in my face, but he says the odds are slim to none.
Most cars tell you to remove the air bag fuse and disconnect the battery as well. Make sure that clock spring is in their correctly and in the right position or bad things can happen. If you need I can try to get the procedure for removal and procedure off Alldata as long as it covers your car. I have access 24/7 to it so just let me know. |

make sure you dont collect any kind of static, touch a piece of metal or somethin just to be sure, it doesnt take much to set off the bag.
ive heard of some techs wearing a wristband with a ground strap attached to it like a leash.

Um yeah you do have to disconnect the battery, and for around 15 minutes it can hold a charge and blow up on you, it would be dumb not to disconnect the battery but hey don't do it apparently you don't have to.
