It depends on what material your wheel is made from. Is it painted, chromed, clear coated alloys? Soap and water is the best thing to use. If you have to go and buy a wheel cleaner at pepboys that is safe for the finish on your wheels. Dont get the wrong stuff as it can stain or strip the bare finish as well as the paint or clear. Hope this helps.

Paint them black, you don't have to worry anymore.

Other than really scrubbing, I don't touch any wheel cleaners.

I have been told that BMW's have the best wheel cleaner around. BMW's are known for really bad brake dust. I haven't had the chance to go out to the dealership to get some, but this is what I am told. I have grime on my wheels that I want off, unfortunatley I would be scrubbing for hours.

I use wheel acid. It is the strongest stuff you can use to clean your wheels. It especially brings chrome up real nice. I'm thinking you probably can't find it in any stores but if you want you could stop by or I could sell you a bottle.

I would gladly pick some up from you, where are you located? My wheels are gunmetal, would that stuff melt it off..or would I have some time to rinse it off real quick?

yea my friend used to get me that acid stuff from his delearship, its real strong you have to dilute it. I stopped using it after it burned the **** out of my hands and eyes. Now I use turtle wax wheel cleaner, it works magic. It used to take me about 15/20 min a wheel to get them nice by hand.

It wouldn't melt it off, but I wouldn't use it everytime I cleaned my wheels. And they must be cooled down. I'm located in Levittown. You can pm me anytime you want to pick some up.

no doubt - P21S is the type of wheel cleaner they bottle as their own... cheaper on the web though
