Friend's Idea for his car

Well a friend of mine and I were both looking at exhaust clips for evos which led us to top gear somehow and he saw how much horsepower was pushed through the small little 2.0 litre engine and he was thinking of turning his matrix awd special edition into a rally car with evo parts. anyone know if it'd be possible to fit evo parts onto the matrix body?

also, what kind of work do you think will need to be done for it to reach 300whp? it sounds like such a cool project and it'll teach me a lot considering i'll be watching him and helping him out, seeing what goes where and what not.

lol we're gonna get a custom badge and make it the matrix evolution

sure its good to be creative, but some things are just extremely far fetched and near impossible unless you've got an insane amount of money. there's a reason that when people want to go fast they just pick up a dsm or something similar... its proven, its affordable, its easy. there's a reason there arent any fast matrixes around. na mean? some cars just arent worth modding...

That car is over a year old but it is nasty as hell 586 bhp and 10.34 in the 1/4. Too bad they barely kept anything from a 7th gen celica.

It can be done...it will take some serious fab work or cash...or both...does he have either?

he's got a decent amount of money but what kind of numbers are we looking at so i can let em know realistically around what it'd cost....the trasmission is very weak but since its an atx he'd have to replace it for the amount of hp he wants to push out of the car (plus he loves driving stick and hates that its an atx)

it's not the most desirable car but it's def. original...it'd def. be cool to see done.

I could see an evo driveline easily being 8k if you want one out of a USDM chassis.

You could always try to work with a JDM motor/clip... but good luck making it work. Seriously, there is way way more money involved in something like this than you want to believe. Unless there are some chassis similarities involved that I don't know of, you are in for some serious fab work and that is $$ intensive.

They both have economy car roots, but that's about where the similarities would end. I would imagine that by the time you're done, you would have essentially grafted a Matrix body onto an Evolution platform. The electronics and wiring alone would be a nightmare. If I were him, it would be far easier to turbo or supercharge the Matrix engine to try and achieve that power level. He may also want to look into a motor/trans axle swap out of another Toyota that may give him a better basis for power.

Alas, some projects are just not worth doing.

It will take a lot, if you are looking to buy a built engine I'd suggest getting it from here http://monkeywrenchracing.com/toyota..._packages.html They make kick ass engines. They have a celica gts at 550whp with only MWR built 2ZZ race engine, MWR stainless manifold and pipes, Garrett GT30R turbo, Large, MWR FMIC, GReddy Type RS BOV, MWR 750cc injectors, MWR 255lph fuel pump, Power FC standalone ECU
