Wow, as much as one might hate or love Bonds...wow...that was a lot of excitement. I'm totally not for steriods...but I couldn't help but pull for that HR.

i just posted bout this in the other thread. and im pretty disappointed really. i never liked bonds and this is icing on the cake. btw, what in the bloody hell was the pitcher thinking. 3-2 count he throws a middle in fastball. dont be a hero, throw at his knees or throw into the dugout. no reason trying to strike him out and end up being marked as the guy that gave up #756. /rant

seriously. 3-2 you do not throw right down the middle to a power hitter. me personally would throw a high fastball.(i used to pitch) make him chase it swing, make him pop it up, or miss and strike him out. or if he doenst chase it. oh well, you walked him with no homerun. simple.

I don't see how anyone who knows anything about baseball can deny the fact that Bonds is an amazing hitter. Steroids or not, it takes a LOT more than strength to be able to hit a baseball and play for 22 seasons. Even with all of the knee problems and the fact that he's currently 43 years old, he has still managed 1 HR every 12.14 at-bats this season. Alex Rodriguez, who is 11 years younger and I agree will probably end up with over 800 career HR's, is having an amazing season and yet is averaging 1 HR every 11.4 at-bats...less than 1 at-bat fewer than Bonds. I don't know about you, but that's pretty impressive to me.

Agreed, like I said in the other posts. Bonds still has to hit the ball. Watch Bonds swing the bat, his swing is amazing. It is beyond the most compact explosion of strength I have ever seen in a batter.

Hell, it's not even proven that he did take steroids, even if he did, so what? Steroids alone don't make you a better baseball player, hell, steroids alone don't even make you stronger. It's pretty clear that Bonds has worked his ass off for this and I think he deserves it.

yea yea who cares. hes not a great player. he took the steriods to get stronger to hit the ball more farther resulting in more homeruns. yes i know it takes alot to hit a home run.. and one is strenght, along with stance and swing. so him taking steroids has no effect in hittin home runs your saying?? ok sure..

how can u call someone a great player for using something to aid him to get stronger wish less the work. if he were to be like some of the "real great players" (non steroids players) working there asses off. then id coinsider him a great player.. (maybe)

You're right, whether or not he even took steroids for a short amount of time over a period where their alleged use was widespread throughout the league and there was no policy or discipline on their use should totally discount all 22 years he has had as a player and any/all accomplishments or stats that he's accumulated...

I bet they also gave him the 500+ stolen bases in his career too...

yea ok smart ass. what i was saying what after the point where he obviously was taking steroids i lost all respect for him. well i never really had any for him. but yea he WAS a good player until he took substences to enhance his performance to get to the record.. thats totaly bull****. 755 and 756 my ass!

Yes, I am saying that his use of steroids for the extremely short amount of time has just about nothing at all to do with all 22 years of home run accumulation. I'll also add again that his steroid use was never proven, so technically this is all speculation in the first place.

yea it had nothing to do with his years BEFORE using them. and never proven. pff yea just woke up one year and was bigger then before. and those pasts year jsut kept gettin bigger. ok sure.

Christ, do you even know how steroids work? You don't take them once and are forever on them. The players are now CONSTANTLY tested ESPECIALLY Bonds.

Bonds is not on steroids this year, yet he's bigger than he was before and is hitting just as many home runs. Odd, how is it possible that someone can get bigger than they did the year before!? That's not possible unless you're juicing... or just work out hard and eat right and have a slower metabolism due to getting older.

I'm not arguing your opinion on whether or not steroids are wrong or whether or not he took them at some point in his career, but what really rubs me the wrong way is everyone's focus on him for something that is a small blip on the screen of an otherwise outstanding career. If you're going to hate Bonds for taking steroids, don't limit it to him...hate the league, the integrity of the game, and the commissioner for doing nothing until it was too late. All you have to do is look at Bond's last two seasons and the numbers he is still putting up even after all of the surgeries and public outcry to understand the desire, determination, and skill that he truly has.
