Problems with a o2 simulator

i have a catless downpipe and made a mechanical o2 simulator out of 18mm sparkdefoulers i installed it today and cleared the codes before i started the car, and the cel light stays off for like 3 seconds then comes right back on. does anyone have any ideas as to why the light is still coming on and the o2 sensor is way away from the pipe?

Are you running the stock bpv or a bov.

Also...sometimes using 2 foulers causes a bad o2 sensor code.

The RFL is causing too much unburned fuel to hit the sensor.
Anything beyond a 50/50 vent will throw the p0420.

Time for a reflash that removes the codes.

i've always used 2 fowlers and drilled out the one closest to the sensor and not the other one, never had a problem.
also didnt know that bov's affected it either but i guess i dont have much personal experience with it all.

When I first had my downpipe on, I was running a Worx adjustable set at 50/50. No codes were thrown until I went 75% vent or 100%.

I'm pretty sure thats the o2 sensor thats in the exhaust manifold before the uppipe.
Either that one went bad or it isn't plugged in.

If you are getting a p0031 then its from the first sensor in the exhaust manifold.

But honestly, you should have gotten the inspection done before you put the downpipe in.

What I have circled in red is the o2 sensor you are looking for.
It is in the exhaust manifold on the passenger side, before the uppipe.

It is not the sensor on the uppipe, that is the EGT sensor.

You are throwing a P0031: Front oxygen (A/F) sensor heater circuit low input.
The problem is with the O2 sensor that is in the exhaust manifold.
Before the uppipe.

Can someone else step in here...I feel like I'm gettin nowhere.

yeah sounds like a coincidence that you did the DP and threw this code, but if thats the code you're getting its definitely the front 02 sensor that is the problem, which is the one that ej20 circled for you... its just before the uppipe, on the exhaust manifold. if you pull your pass front wheel off and peel back the fender liner some you should see it, or take the splash guard off the underside of the car and look from underneath... its not too tough to get to but unfortunately its not cheap to replace.

I just found this thread. Just the fact that the CEL came on so quickly would have ruled out a P0420.
With it being the heater circuit in the front O2, you probably have noticed that the car runs a little rough until it's warmed up. That's what I experienced when my front O2 heater went bad. Plan on spending $225-275 to replace it.
