haha i swear when someone gets a dslr, they take the same type of pics lol. maybe its the way the view finder makes things look idk haha. but these arent bad, but they arent good. what mode was the camera on? oh and number your photos.

1- i like this. for a n00b this is very good
2- idk what you were going for haha.
3- with a lil better compostition and editing, this can be an awesome photo
4- try moving back a lil bit so its not just a white blur on the side of the pic. give the post more of a definition. if that makes sense
5- get a tripod and dont use the flash. mess around with manual settings, then youll have a cool pic.
6- shes cute. hahaha. seriously, im not a fan of stock flash units. they suck. and i have yet to buy a real one haha.

haha yeah i think we all take the same looking pics cause we all do the same thing; shoot anything and everything around

they were all on different settings, i tried playing around with everything instead of reading the instructions.. right now i'm messing with my tripod and using "s" mode on the dial ( shutter? i guess? ) just trying different exposure times and lighting to see what the results are

edit:

oh yeah the only editing i did was following some basic tutorials with photoshop cs2 to define white/black, i also adjusted the saturation ( i know i know ) to about 8 on all of them and sharpened to between 110-150%

I always keep my Iso as low as possible. The only time i'll bump my Iso up is when I can't get a fast enough shutter speed hand held, and i don't have a tripod with me. As a general rule, your minimum shutter speed to shoot hand held is the reciprocal of the lens' focal length. For example, if you have a 50mm lens, you can shoot as slow as 1/50th without getting camera shake. I guess lenses with image stabilization (like your 55-200mm VR) are an exception to that rule so you'll most likely be able to shoot at slower speeds without camera shake. Hope this helps, happy shooting!
