You can't be a plumber but you want to be a mechanic? You already have back problems and want to be a mechanic?

I don't know, perhaps it's me, but that just doesn't make much sense.

How will your back be "fixed" come next Friday? What's wrong with it in the first place, that you can't do plumbing? (that wouldn't effect an auto mechanic) It sounds like you need an office job with one of them comfy seats. I don't think I know one auto mechanic that doesn't have back problems.

well first off

if you have back problems dont become a mechanic
your days of sore backs and schy bones have just begun

second

if you wanna become a mechanic go to school
or find a car make you would really love to work on and go to a company specific school

third

go to school UTI, lincoln tech, pennco tech, or somewhere else where you can get some sort of degree in automotive technicality

well for one being a plumber you need to be able to dig in small spaces. and i have 3 ruptured disc's and the are getting replaced. and in order for me to get the settlement i have to settle out of the plumbing business. also in plumbing you need to crawl under sinks and in very small spaces. and the auto mech was just something i was thinking about and to see if schooling would be needed or just on the job training.

I'm a residential electrician, I know what being a plumber is like.

If your back can't take being a plumber, you will in NO WAY like being an auto mechanic.

That's the truth, plain and simple. My father has all kinds of of back problems from being an auto mechanic 10 years ago, before he went on his own as an electrician. The back problems still come up every now and then, but he said that electrical work is literally cake work on the back compared to being a mechanic.

Hahahahahahaha. Sorry but I had to laugh at this one. You have enough back problems to keep you from being a plumber then stay FAR FAR away from the auto industry. Thanks to spending the last 5-6 years bent over the front of a car I now have a pinched nerve and lumbar disc herniation. Oh the fun of that. Plus fighting for hours each week, not knowing what your bringing home, having a killer week then a completely dead on the next. Winter time is really slow in the service departments. Im telling you from experience, its one of the worst jobs out there. Keep it a hobby. People think because its fun and they like doing it and modifiying their car that becoming a mechanic is a great idea. Totally false.

EDIT:

Just saw your last post. If you wanna good school that deals with mobile electronics there is MEA in Kennilworth, NJ.

But you still have to be under dashes twisted up all day long. It's still worse on the back then being a plumber was.

If you enjoyed being a plumber, you'll enjoy being an electrician. They basically go hand in hand, except the plumbers don't have "flexible" plumbing (as wiring is flexible). Other then that, it's a really similar job, including all of the tight crawl spaces, trenching, and all other kinds of crap. Same stuff, just different materials and end results.. It goes back to the back problems though, if you couldn't take being a plumber, you won't be able to do the electrical route either.

How much are you looking to make? What kind of advances do you want?

Education? What are you good at? There's millions of jobs, you gotta narrow it down a little .

Massage Therapist sounds like a good trade off, even though you are in an office like environment.
