Project 240SS UPDATES ON PAGE 3!!!

Well my friend has been thinking about this project for a while, and now it has finally begun. He wanted me to make the member journal for him because he is not a member yet, but he is making an account today. He picked up this 240sx for 600 bucks from some puertoricans down in chester lol. Dash was cracked, interior smelled like piss and the motor didn't run, but the body had absolutely no rust on it. He got a full ride to ATC and his parents let him keep his college money, so he has about 26,000 to go into this project, but he spent some of it on a bunch of snap-on tools, so he's maybe down to 23,000 to go into this project, so this is going to be badass when we are done. We just need to find a wrecked camaro or trans am to get the LS1 from first.

He is redoing the entire interior, new dash, new carpet, roll cage, skyline seats.... And the reason we are calling it "240SS" is because he is droping in an LS1 with the T56 package. Plans for it are, mild cam, full exhaust (with cutouts for that "sleeper" effect), intake, and a 300zx rear.

Before we got started we had to take a massive community of bees, they made a nest under the hood, and a huge one in the fender behind the door jam. There was atleast 300 bees we had to fight off.

The nest is behind the fender.

And this is all the raid we sprayed, we were also dropping fire crackers down on the nest lol

And now for dropping the motor

Wiring harness out

Belts, hoses, and power steering pump off

We were making good time untill we ran into this pipe coming of the header, the thing was a pain in the ass, we finally just took a cutting wheel to it.

AC lines, driveshaft, tranny mounts all undone.

cute little pig-nose

Engine ready to be taken out

Royal solute

More to come when we get the mouting kit, LS1, and interior!

'tis a good start, half-way done, get that new motor!

fyi, there's a local yard that specializes in lt1/ls1 wrecked cars (ie: trans am, z28, impala ss, gto, etc) If you look on ebay and search for user id: fparts
you'll find a lot of things to get you started. I believe its called Contemporary Corvette in Bristol, PA

I should have taken a video, but I pimp smacked and backhanded about 30 bees! lol And I even caught one, put it in the freezer for a bit, and tied a string around it, then when it woke back up, I had a new pet! lol saw it on jackass one time it was hilarious so I had to do it! lol

Because you can have like 3 more liters for like a 50lb difference.

Cool project, he should post up how he likes ATC because I was gonna go there, then decided on PCT instead. $23k is alot to spend on a project car at that age (assuming hes 18ish). I'd probably drop $10k into the car and then save the rest. I think you could have that car running, full suspension, wheels, tires, and maybe even resprayed for $13k or so. Not sure how much LSx go for so yeah thats just a guess. Good luck, this project should have no hold ups since the money is there!

Are you positive? Cause I thought the r200 was only from 280Z's, 280ZX's and first gen 300ZX's? Not saying your wrong but I'm just asking for a link or anything to prove it...

Will do, but now we are trying to decide on the rear.

The 240sx does have the r200 but it has different internals from the 300zx. Right now I'm thinking, keep the s13 r200 case and a J30 VLSD internal swap.

VLSDs are good for nothing. They don't work, they don't lock, they don't do anything besides like an open diff. Anyone who tells you they work is a dirty liar and should be kicked in the balls on the spot. This is only in reference to the nissan ones from the time you're talking about.

As for the diffs, Antony is mostly right. 240sx and 300ZX NA both has R200, along with what seems like most RWD Nissans since the 70s. The Z32TT had an R230 which is bigger stronger and has been fit under the back of a 240, but it may not be the easiest thing to do. You might have to swap subframes around or other stuff like that, I don't know, I don't care to make that much power that it becomes an issue for me. But if you're breaking R200s then you're going to be breaking the rest of the drivetrain first. Axles will go, driveshafts will blow out, etc.

BTW, the R200s weren't the same throughout the years. Like Z31 R200s are different than Z32 R200s. I don't know how or why or what or who, but just wanted to make a note of it.

Yea that's the rear that we were gonna go with, the r230, but now I'm sceptical because you're talking about swapping subframe parts and stuff lol
Right now I'm talking to this guy, he's a pro drifter with an LS1 s13 silvia, and he is selling me this hinson driveshaft for $280, and I'm gonna find out what rear he is using.
