Trouble turning right??

My girl has a Cavalier. On the way home from a trip, all of a sudden her car doesn't want to turn right. It's like power steering failed on one side only...but isn't that impossible?

What could this be?

the rack was pretty much perfect from what i could see, the problem has got to be elsewhere.
as for the car, no idea, good luck...

The car, wanting to return to the Nascar tradition so deeply rooted in the Cheverolet culture, has decided to further this goal by refusing to turn right.

Simple. Just tell the car that Toyota is racing in Nascar and it will be so confused that it will begin turning right again.

Or you could check the tie rods and wheel bearings.

maybe a blockage in one of the PS hoses then? or internal problem in the rack. i would take the tie rods off the spindles and turn the wheel. this way if it still does it you can eliminate anything other than the PS rack.

Something starts to whine when she does turn right, so it sounds like its power steering related and not suspension related.

if its whinin loud when u start turning the wheel is could be the PS pump. my old car did that and it turned out beina loose PS belt, not the pump itself....so glad i ditched that thing and got a car with NO ps pump or pulley or even fluid! yay electronics!

or, the car isnt an Ambi-tuner

If it was had to turn in either directions, i'd have to say the pump, but since it is only in one direction, i would think that the problems lies in the rack, or one of the suspension components on that side is seriously binding.
Check the fluid for evidence of moisture, dirt, or metallic shavings, and look under the car for signs of road rash.

Not even an acknowledgement on my funny post? Hahaha.

Even if the pump is bad it shouldn't stop you from turning the wheel. You could disable the pump and still be able to turn the car. If it is whining then i'm thinking something is hanging it up like the tie rod or some other suspension piece.
