High Mileage Evos? 75,000 and over… discuss:

I’ve been curious about this since I’m getting closer to the 100K mark. I’m becoming less impressed with ridiculously high horsepower Evos, and more impressed with Evos with the most power possible, with high mileage and little or NO reliability problems that have been well maintained.

- Began modding around 25,000
- Replaced Cutch around 40,000
- Cams at around 48,000… been pushing 350whp ever since
- Timing belt at 62,000
- Engine oil every 3000 to 5000 miles
- No problems with engine (original)
- No problems with Transfer case
- Never burns oil
- Still reliable
- Still wets pants
- Still terrifies
- Still fun!

Only problems so far is the rear wing pealing. I’ve pushed the car, however, the car has NEVER been abused. It has been to the track multiple times and on one 5 hour rally. No problems with the car whatsoever. Just been replacing fluids at regular intervals. Just curious about how many others are out there that are over the 75K mark.

Further proof that these cars engine/drivetrain can take a beating despite what haters say.

Silver05bullet has 100,000 and he beats the **** out of that car.

3 clutches, 2 trannys, and it's still running like a monster.

360whp since about 70,000 miles ago. lol

thats how i feel about my car. i bought it with 42,000 miles began modding at 50000miles, i had to replace the stock clutch at 60000 and i just replaced the act 2100 at 90,000 (the lower trans bolts came loose and all of the fluid seeped out over time, which in turn heated up the trans/clutch and glazed over the clutch) i just upgraded the turbo at around 84,000 and haven't had a problem at all since. everything is holding up perfectly.

despite what many people say i think mitsubishi builds a decent car...people talk trash on dsm's saying how unreliable a 150,000 mile 15 year old car is and how every 2g w/ a 7 bolt motor gets crankwalk my car is a prime example of how both of those accusations are wrong

People on DSM tuners among other say that less than 30% of 2g 7-bolt experience crank walk. Just what I heard.

100K is good to hear. I saw a thread on EvoM and there is a guy that hit 100K, another is over 75,000… and of course they’re all running strong. Mine will hit 100K with no problems – I can feel the car is well put together.

It’s become the weekend warrior, and even then, I rarely get on it anymore (it scares people into “stoplight submission” anyway.) I don’t know how long I will own it but I’m definitely keeping it maintained… perhaps it will go beyond 150K without any problems… you never know.

Any others out there? I know there’s gotta be more. “SteveEvo” (hasn’t posted on here in a long time) was at 65,000 miles two years ago. I know he’s gotta be way over the 100K mark.

I only have 15K on mine so far. The clutch went out at 13K, other than that it has been smooth sailing.

Yeah, I think I’ve got the 7 year/100,000 mile warranty on the body for corrosion and rust. I’ll have to look into it at the dealer.

Easy man you make your monthly payment and drive it on weekends. You also drive your beater to work and back. After I get my Harley it will be the weekend warrior and not the Evo!

im at 21,000 and its an 05. Just as long as the trans, transfer case, rear diff, and engine oils are properly maintained, there really should be no problems besides the ones you cause from excessive modding, i love this car
