Room color (updated with pics. 56k beware)

So I got a new house, and was looking for opinions on what color I should paint it. Seriously, people. Help me out here. It's currently white/offwhite. It's an alright color, and I don't mind it. If I can't come up with anything, it might just get hit with a fresh coat and be done with it.

I'll post pics of the house later tonight. Going there to clean now...people left it like a hell hole.

It depends on the room really. Something like a bedroom, i would honestly leave white/off white. A kitchen or something like that, make it more colorful.

Then again, I also suck at decorating, and generally leave that to professionals.

I thought of that. Just going back to white. I made a decision though

Behr White Glove on the ceiling
Behr Wilmington Tan on the walls.

It looks fantastic.

Behr is ****ty over priced paint...Go to Sherwin Williams and tell them you want Cashmere Flat (color name here) if you dont care what color i recommend Manner Gold or something of that hue....

Egg Shell is a color but its also a type of paint...i.e....Flat, Matte, Egg Shell, Satin...flat is the easiest paint to use especially if your a DIYer otherwise you need to watch and make sure you dont leave roller lines

Use MasterHide White for your cieling it is the only paint my company uses for ceilings (also available at Sherwin Williams)

I have been painting homes and businesses for years now so i do know my shiite. if you have any other questions feel free to PM me

I liked the way my Behr came out. However, there is no way in hell I'd paint my walls flat. Satin for walls, semi for the ceiling. Nothing less for me ever. My whole family is DIY oriented. As far as paint, I've heard a lot of painters knock Behr, but to be honest, I didn't have an issue. 1/2" nap layed it in fine without runs.

if you dig it then thats all that matters, if you have children in your home satin and semi are the way to go, but for the record, satin= bathrooms, semi= kitchens, flat= bedrooms and living spaces excluding kids room. ceilings should be flat, unless you live with smokers....again as long as you like the finished product it doesnt matter. Good stuff though i wish more people painted their own ****, its a shame to fork out a couple grand for paint on walls

you need to do dual colors in the room. my parents just redid their house and every room is two different colors that compliment each other and it looks like a brand new house.

id pick up some pamphlets at the paint store and check out their color combos

The complete contrast I came up with really fits the room. I'll put up the pics tomorrow of the finished product, but here's the pics of the house before:

As soon as you walk in, you're in the Jam Room. This is where all of our guitars, the piano, the sax and the clarinet will be. Some stools for players, and a couch to sit and listen while jams go on.

The kitchen...and a dark pic of the window that leads into the family room. Obviously, cooking goes on in here. The floor is nice.

The family room. This is where the TV and all that stuff will be. There's a pellet stove in the back that works (sweet!) and some kickass doors that lead out back to the gazeebo and the biggest backyard on the street.

The hallway that leads to the bathroom and 2 downstairs rooms.

Room #1: Conservatory. This is my dad's place to do work and stuff. Had some cool built-ins that came with the house. Very nice place.

Downstairs bathroom. This is my parents bathroom. It's alright...mine is much better.

Upstairs we take a look at room #3: The Sewing Room. This is my mom's place to chill out and make stuff....cause she does that. The window is long as hell, and this room also had some nice built ins. Pics to show bump-out in closet.

My bathroom. It's just total ownage. Skylight (never need the lights except at night) and 4 flood lights. It's a really gorgeous bathroom...and you can't beat that door!

Now to the best part...my room. It's gigantic. I have an access into the atticm access to the bathroom pipes...and a walk-in closet that's made entirely of cedar. Mmmm.

Dark ass pic of front door from top of the stairs.

Wait, what was that door?

Washer, dryer, oil heater and a parking block!

Garage!

Yeah, it's a real parking block...in my garage....

The issue is that it was done correctly, so it's stuck on there very well. Anyone have some tips?

they make a glue remover called DIF, but any glue remover mixed with hot water, try and find a peeling corner or open seam, saturate the are, give it a minute to soak in, spray again, scrap with putty knife careful not to gouch (sp) or knick the drywall ( makes for less patch work). If you work slow and they didnt use too much glue (which happens a lot) then you can work off big chunks if not whole sheets of paper at a time. Hot water and keep putting in new hot water when it cools

Nice. Thanks!

I hope they didn't, but that **** is TIGHT on there. The other wall paper I had in my old house was bubbly and peely and ****. This stuff is wicked nicely done...I think they paid for it. Shame they didn't get half decent paper....

if you get all the paper off take a wet hot rag and wipe as much excess glue off as possible any glue left behind could show when you paint it
