guesswho's 95 impreza:Swap complete, Lots of Prodrive goodies.

OK well I got the car a few months ago from my dad dirt cheap, i'm only 14 so it's still in his name. I've always liked Subarus and I was lucky enough to get one.

Basically I just want to have fun with the car and take it to some autocrosses (when i'm old enough to drive of course ) I think the stuff that I have done to it is pretty good for being 14 without a job. Well heres a little mods list.

-Exterior/Interior
Interiors completly gutted and staying that way
DIY bolt in rollbar I designed, bent, and welded myself
STi titanium shifter knob
RS bumper
WRX rear wing
RS front seats as of 9/16
Grey countersunk WRC style dash as of 9/17
Wingless trunklid as of 9/17

Wheels/Brake/Suspension
01 RS 6 spoke wheels w/bald RE92's (SOLD)
Prodrive GC-07's 17X7 with Sumitomo HTRZ-II 205-50-17 (SOLD)
15" legacy turbo wheels, with some no name crap tires.
03 WRX front brakes (SOLD)
JDM WRX fronts/98-01RS fronts with Hawk Performance "Blue 9012 pads"
Subaru 2 pot rears (traded to my dad)
RS rear lateral links (my car didn't come with a stock RSB)
19MM RS FSB
21MM STi pink RSB
04 STi rear sway bar mounts
WRX stock front springs (thrown out)
Muteki open ended lug nuts
RS struts all four corners as of 9/16
H&R Sport Springs as of 9/16
Carbon Fiber STi Strut Tower bar as of 9/16
Legacy Turbo Rear Brake set-up as of 9/16 (still need rear hubs)
Prodrive Pero-R 17X7 52MM offset w/Sumitomo HTRZ-II as of 10/28

-Other random stuff
WRX cat-back exhaust (SOLD)
New stock Radio
Complete A/C delete
Cobb tuned license plate holder
STI Cat-back as of 9/17

Heres a few pics of it so far.

damn, starting young! so i guess you just work on the car for now but dont drive it? thats pretty cool...
i saw you commented in petes thread earlier, please let him guide you through your mod path, he's the man and he knows his stuff.
if you really want to get hardcore you can remove the sound deadening material from your interior, i think people use dry ice and then break it off of the floor, etc.
looking good though. i'm not a fan of the wrx wing but thats all you if you like it. how are you getting the mods without a job if you dont mind me asking?
edit: your dad is richard burns?!!?

The sound deading tar is already out. As for money for the mods, well I do alot of stuff around the house, I got paid in school very often for helping alot this year, and when I do stuff to my dads STi, L, or Malibu he usually hooks me up with some parts, and i'm also a part time bum at the local wawa.

I talk to Pete alot he does know his stuff, just bought a 20MM FSB from him 2 days ago that I put onto my dads L today. I'm actually still thinking about turbo'ing my 1.8 like he did.

You are doing very well for yourself at 14. Soak up as much info from your Dad and other knowledgable guys around here and you will be quite the DIYer in a short amount of time. Once you get a real job when you are older I'll bet you put together something very cool.

Thanks guys, I have a few ideas on what i'm doing next. I'm going to hack up my hood and fit a hood scoop into it just cause I don't have enough money to get a whole RS facelift. And i'm going to buy a roof vent from Primitive.

sometimes less is more, in my opinion. ya know, quality over quantity.
i know you've got the modding bug but sometimes (a lot of the time) simplicity is really the way to go. what i'm trying to say is... my personal opinion at least... is just leave the hood as is, and keep it looking clean.

on another note i just realized it looks like your roll bar doesnt have any reall support. is it a '2 point' right now? structurally i think it really should have a support brace leading to the back of the car and mounting near the rear strut towers. unless i'm not seeing the photo clearly and you've already done that.

Your right, it is a 2 point for now I have to get tubing to slip mouth into the main hoop so that I can finish it. Eventually I want it to be a 6 point bolt in rollcage. I know what you mean with the hood, but I already have a plan and after it is all done I think you will like it.

I just noticed you asked earlier if my dad was Richard Burns......Well my dad was Chevy guy way back when and always liked Mark Donohue and built IROC replicars intended to look like Mark Donohue's Camaro. A few years back he became a fan of the WRC and got his STi and intended to make it look like the WRC car Burns would have driven when he returned back to Subaru in the 2004 WRC season. Unfortuneatly he died before he could come back to drive for Subaru.

Ok well today I got some work done on the hood. Heres some pics of the progress.

Hood completly stock.

Tracing the RS hood piece.

Hood cut, total hack job.

Here it is popriveted on.

It's not staying poprivited on, tomorrow I'm drilling out the poprivets, then sanding the hood and the peice of the RS hood. If I get a chance to go out tomorrow i'm going to buy some JB weld, weld and poprivet it on. I'm going to use some bondo around the edge, work it out real nice. Then i'm done with it. If anybody knows where I could buy a GC hoodscoop at a good price PM me.

Well things have been slow, but I have done some more with the hood, and the WRX wing is going, being replaced with this......

A 99 RS coupe wing. Doing a few more things exterior wise then getting re-painted hunter green.

Alright, what are these STi rear sway bar mounts you speak of? Did you replace the control arms? I have a cusco STi RSB which I bought which doesn't fit... I need it to fit...

the mounts are the bushings and brackets that the swaybar slides through. They bolt to the underside of the car. He replaced the lateral links in favor of ones that have endlink brackets.

Renegade-the STi's RSB won't fit your car cause the STi has special rear endlinks, they have a stud sticking out and you tighten the endlink to the sway bar with a nut. Its not like the regular WRX endlinks/sway bar where you use a long bolt/washer and nut to tighten it. Basically STi RSBs fit STi's only. However, all the 93-07 REAR sway bars are interchangeable.

Yeah, you see I learned that after I bought it... I thought you bought some special adapter which moves the endlink so that it mounts up right... Literally if someone could flex the rear swaybar about 3/4 an inch the endlinks would line up correctly... I was getting all excited that there might be an easy solution unlike swapping control arms :\

Well, buy an 02-03 WRX Cusco rear sway bar from a regular company. Open box take out 02-03 WRX sway bar, put STi Cusco sway bar in, return. Everybodys happy.
