Yeah it's possible as the center diff isn't locked, but it's a really bad idea.

I actually read a huge thread on this (not just BSing) and the conclusion was that this really isnt as bad as it sounds!

It's equivalent to doing a one wheel burnout on an open diff. Yeah it's not going to explode the first, second, or even 15th time you do it, but it's not good for it and will fubbar it in time.
