why are people so rude when you can't help them?

i'm at work today and at around 12:30 i went out for lunch, i took my pager with me since i still have to return pages even on break ( wtf? ) i get a page from rehab asking me for a provolone boot ( it's a soft boot used for people with sores on their legs ) i was driving so i asked to call the lady back and she got all pissed off and said something along the lines of "fine its not like i have work to do" and hangs up on me. i rush back to work and check for the item, we don't have it. i call her back and let her know and she goes ape**** because another department told her that for sure i would have it. i was polite and explained that i dont have it in stock and it isn't in the computer so it must be from another department. then she tells ME that i have them and just dont want to run them up so she will come to get it herself and hangs up. i kind of laugh and call my boss to make sure we dont carry them, he confirms it and tells me what department does.

*BANG BANG BANG* the door is shaking like the god damned police are about to bust in, i open it and this buttertroll is standing in the doorway with a cart, she barges in and slams her cart around behind her knocking it into the shelves and starts looking for the boot that i dont have. i explain to her that i called my boss and he told me were to get the boot and she turns around with a huge grin; "OH SO NOW YOU KNOW WERE TO GET THEM? PRETTY CONVENIENT THAT YOU HAD NO IDEA WERE THEY CAME FROM UNTIL I CAME DOWN HERE ISN'T IT? GROW SOME BALLS" she storms out and i havn't heard anything back.

what just happened? i don't think im going to even bother reporting her to the nursing supervisor, i'm really confused right now.

my boss called me and asked me what my confrontation was about. aparently she went back up and told the nursing supervisor that i was being very rude and refused to bring an item up so she had to come get it herself. then had the nerve to add that when she came down i yelled at her and told her she couldn't be in the storeroom.

my boss just asked if it was true, i didn't even have to explain the entire story to him since he tends to take our side anyways ( we take a LOT of **** from every other department since we have a cake job that pays decent )

Write the whole situation down on paper, file a formal complaint through your boss, and make sure to CC the nursing supervisor.

You didn't have the equipment, you were driving your car (assumedly off-site) and couldn't get her an answer, and then she insults you and yells at you.

No one deserves to be treated like that, dude - if you take it, you're enabling her to do it again, and then talk crap against you to the other nurses. Soon, you're a whipping boy for their frustrations.

Haha, I got bitched out in the middle of the hallway last thursday by some miserable old hag because she has a broken VCR in her room and has called three times to get it removed. I simply told her the correct person to get ahold of and she went off on me like it was my fault.

I dont even deal with VCR's or any kind of AV equipment. I cant wait to run into her again. I'm gonna ask her how her vcr is doing.

No, 400 magazines are a BAD thing....and it'll ruin you, and all you have to do is fill out those little subscription cards with their name on it. They then have 3 choices:

1) Pay all of the magazine subscription fees. 400 at $10-20 per...that's $4,000 - 8,000, not counting really expensive ones like the Wall Street Journal, GQ, and some of the British mags.

2) Write letters to every publisher requesting cancellation of the subscriptions. The problem is, you don't know what's coming until it starts arriving. Surely, even if you wrote 375 letters, 25 will slip through the cracks.

3) Don't pay any of them and get placed for collection, with entries on your credit, 400 times. Yes, they'll hunt you down like a dog over a $15 magazine subscription....at an average of 10 beacon score points (dropped) per collection account, they'll easily have a credit score that's in the toilet and can't buy a stick of gum on credit until they sort this out....
