Exhausts

What's a better idea? Tryin to find a specific catback for your car, or making a custom one. I've heard that most all exhaust systems do thge same, except for the diff sound. Unless you go from like a 2.25 to a 3 inch pipe. I've often heard it's not worth it cuase all you're doing is paying for a name brand.

I'm guessing you have a Honda of some sort. Don't get upset by this comment but don't bother unless you're going the forced induction route. Any hp you're going to pick up is negligible. Maybe you'll pick up 5whp up top, but will probably lose the same down low. Save your ear drums and those of everyone else riding alongside of you.

I personally would buy a name brand because then you know the welds are nicely done and its been tested. There are differences in exhaust but usually they are very minimal. But if you can find a known good exhaust shop then go for it. As for the comment above: There are N/A hondas that can run 10's all day. Forced induction is not the save all end all of tuning.

Edit: I just looked up your other posts (toretto) and it seems like you haven't had anything to say but negative things about other peoples cars. Maybe you should post something informative instead of ****ting on other peoples cars. Btw, I schooled a black typhoon in the area, was that you?

exhaust brand isn't really important, unless you're a name brand whore lol.

exhaust performance truly depends on ur setup...
don't run a full 3 inch catback on a mildly modded n/a setup
but don't run a 2.25 inch catback on a high horsepower turbo setup...
and mufflers vary too

not to hijack the thread here, but who do you guys classify as a reputible exhaust shop? The Minekee up my way seems to do really good work, he setup my last exhaust, should I just stick with him?

as long as they have good welds and provide mandrel and not crush bent tubing...

apexi ws2 is a solid exhaust for what it is : a semi performance and quiet streetable exhaust system..
it is chambered so don't expect flow to be the best

The guy that did my exhaust put welds on there that look like HKS/Greddy/Apex-i made it. He worked with me to piece together mandrel bends and parts that I wanted. And he was half the price of those name brand stores like Meineke.

Actually he use to work for a Meineke, haha.

By the way, he made my IC and intake pipes too. And he can make custom headers although he is not the one that did the headers on my buddies 5SFE motor. I'd say his work is a step up from that one. Live and learn. Feel free to check out my car one day.

Both. Depends on what your trying to accomplish. I actually forget which is which but the welds on my exhaust and IC pipes are thin while the beads that hold the hangers on my exhaust are thick... if that is the right terminology.

so where's the place at? I can use a good exhaust guy for a 3" turbo back setup.

CSE in Oreland does really nice work, but they're pricey. I can get people contact info if they want it.

When I got my 3" done he thought I was crazy. I used a vband clamp up front (http://www.burnsstainless.com/Hardwa...ps/clamps.html) ,3" cat, resonator and muffler that looks like it belongs on a F150. He made it all fit nice and tight but couldn't figure out what my obsession was about being quiet....

Quiet 3" is like an oxymoron I guess.

Get all the parts youself and just bring it down to him. He can also get Vband clamps that are nicer than the ones I got. After he showed them to me I was jealous but I already had the Burns model in my hands. Live and learn. At least if I ever want to drop my downpipe it's one SS bolt away.
