Busted Damper Knob....any thoughts on how to adjust?

Basically a while back my damper knob broke off and because of school and ****, I never got around to worrying about it.

I was trying to adjust the damper and it felt seized, so I applied just a hair more pressure and the knob with about a half-inch to inch long shaft with the blue knob fell out of the bottom of the coilover.

My question is, does anyone know of a way to manually adjust the damper without the knob?

There's a small 8mm screw on the bottom of the coilover where the knob and shaft went inside of. That have anything to do with anything?

I contacted KTS Overseas a while back, and they couldn't comprehend anything I said. Just called SPL Parts and they had no clue whatsoever.

Here's the damper:

Here's the knob:

Really, any help, suggestions, who to talk to etc. is really appreciated. Thanks.

This "kind of" happened on my TEIN super streets....there is a little knob on top that you twist and it clicks for each adjustment....well it kind of came unscrewed...

The other end had a hex head, so i used an allen key to tighten it all the way to the left....being VERY gentle when it started to get tight....this corresponds to the highest setting...

Then i put the knob back in and tried to screw it back in

Dunno if that helps....you can always figure out how many degrees of rotation you have per click or whatever, and use an allen wrench to do it then just leave it

Happens on most adjustable coilovers and struts, and generally, the manufacturers don't do anything about it, or just don't care.

It's common with the AGXs I have, given they are much cheaper than your setup.

Good luck with it, hopefully they'll make good for your sake.

That's your car this happened on? I feel like I'm seeing this everywhere.

Best bet, see if SPL can sell you replacement dampers. And then you'll be fine. The only other way I can think of fixing it, it to completely disassmeble the damper and replace the shaft or just the adjuster part of it. Either of which you aren't going to be able to get from KTS.

Actually, it looks almost identical to a silkroad damper I took apart a while ago. I still have all the parts and I think the adjuster still worked on the silkroad, or at least as well as it ever would. I'll need to double check and make sure I have the pieces, so it might fit in there and then you could just replace the shaft. But there might be an issue with refilling the gas in the damper and it could require some modification. So it might not be worth trying to do.

So best bet is probably just trying to get replacement dampers or just dealing with it and getting something good sometime soon.

What's the 8mm screw that you're talking about? It doesn't look like there is anything there. It just looks like the nut holding the damper into the housing and maybe I just don't see where the screw is.

As far as adjusting manually, if it was seized before and caused the adjuster shaft to fail, then I doubt there's going to be any way to do it now.
