TST Videographers thread

I see a lot of people throwing up photos on here, but not so many people creating video.

Who else on TST is serious about video?
What camera(s) / gear do you use?

i used to be real into videography, especially in high school. the thing that made me switch to photography is the fact that it is so difficult to find worthwhile subject matter with video, but with photography you can just go outside and walk around if you're bored and take good photographs. with video/film it seems like it has to be something worthy of your time shooting, like it has to have a final purpose. basically the first question you should ask a potential customer.. 'who/what is your audience'. i always found myself asking that every time i picked up the video camera and more often than not the answer was "me". with photography it seemed more worth the money for good equipment because it's one frame, you can just snap the picture, edit it a bit, look at it, then save it to a folder named 'random' and only show it once in a while if you felt like it.

haha, quite a thorough explanation, but hopefully it makes sense.

i would love to get into videography again if i had something worthwhile to shoot. it's actually a lot of fun, i enjoy editing the most.

A few friends and I messed around w/ cinematography and actually made 2 snowboarding videos. The 1st one wasnt that good LOL, the 2nd one wasnt bad. We sold around ~100 copies in our different schools which we were proud of.

My website is down and no longer around because Im out at school and completelly missed this past season of boarding. We used to call ourselves Enemys Propaganda... I forget who made up that name but it was real quick.

2 good friends are sponsored and a few other kids that ride with us are also sponsored snowboarders.

It kind of sucks that I dont have any of the old videos backed up. I actually just checked the videos from this year that are on the sites and Im actually depressed about the quailty of video and the different angles used.

Anyhow,

Here is my friends website, he is doing photography and has a job already in it but I forget what the company is. He is a senior in High School right now and graduating soon.

Video stuff is all i do all day everyday, i'm a wedding/event videographer and editor (pays the bills). I shoot with Sony VX2100's, with all the needed accessories, be it video lights, whatever.

I also do car/bmx/skateboarding related stuff for fun. Did a TST shoot last summer in philly, shot a bunch at atco with some friends as well as mike(tiny) and a few others from revitup when it existed.

I have a few little vids on the myspace link in my sig, nothing special.

^^^ For what you are doing, the GL-1 should be fine.

I'll put a highlights reel of some of the stuff I've shot in the past year with the DVX when I get my new master hard drive set up.

Newest addition to the family!

I'm working on a mic setup which will allow me to run four mics throughout different parts of the car I'm filming. Who's up for being a test subject???

I'm bored, and got curious so I figured I'd revive this a little...see if theres any other new faces.

I'm currently at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Video Production and Digital Media Production. I own a Panny DVX100b and edit with a "decked out" macbook pro with FCP 5.1.4.

Any new updates on you other guys?

I just purchased a Sony DSR-PD170, and another VX2100. All the necessary accessories, video lights, wide angle lens, filters, I also have a fully loaded Macbook Pro for editing, as well as a 24" iMac.

Nah, TST likes taking still pics of cars, photoshopping them and posting them up only to be harassed about.

I used to shoot video, don't have the time anymore.
