Any Good Engine Shops in SNJ?

I'm looking for a shop in SNJ to do a engine/transmission swap on my car...prefferrably one that a member or a friend of a member used and had good experience with

One Civilian at work knows a race engine builder in New Egypt, NJ that is BA! he does heads and bottom end rebuilds on everyhing. You can't go wrong with a machinist/master mechanic working on your car. He is 50 years old and has been doing it since the mid 60's. I will pm you the shops name/contact info on Monday. I would take my block their anyday after the praises I have heard and seen. Good luck either way

wow...thanks, that was so much quicker than supraforums, lol...i only got one response there

but for the record, i don't need a top of the line shop that will charge an arm and a leg, i'm just looking for a decent shop that will do a turbo swap for me...long story short, my engine runs horribly and i am planning on going turbo, including the stronger 5-Speed transmission

Tune Time Performance in Tom's River is damn good also. Not to be confused with TTP. lol...He deals mostly with GM though, but has done alot of work with everything from doing exhaust, tune and supercharger pulley swaps on a Ford GT, to a full build on a new Jeep SRT8(is it SRT8 or SRT10?) to EVO and STI tunes. He has an AWD Mustang Dyno right in his shop also.

I recognize your car from your avitar and I live in the same development as you (don't want to say on line) but I wanted to check out that car when I saw it for sale on Oxmead road then I happened to see it pop up in your driveway shortly after. As I remember it was a good price, just don't know what work it needed.

We should meet up sometime especially since I live around the block.

There is a good guy who does work out of his house that lives in Atlantic City. He builds forged engines for us in the Protege community and if you want to see if he can help you out, PM me and I'll give you his contact info.

Ahh mk3 turbo....Ill motor swap that sucker. Or you can just turbo the non turbo motor. The 7mge will handle it same with the stock w58 tranny. But ofcourse the r154 is stronger.

i think i found a place but i'm looking for someone who has done swaps on MK3's before....it seems like if i don't call a performance shop, not only do they not understand what i want done, but i am referred to as "son" and "boy" and still have to explain what needs to be done, then hear "it sounds like you're reading this off the internet" (it happened once, but whatever)

but what do you drive? i know i've seen someone with a silver t/a literally down the road and a red or orange (i forget) SRT-4...if you drive the SRT-4 i know my friend albert knows you, but yeah we should hang out or something

I hear you, it's a lot better when you can go into a shop and talk directly to the person who will be doing the work for you.

I live on the block over from you at the other end. I drive a MazdaSpeed Protege that spends most of it's life in the garage and daily drive a 2008 Fit. The MSP is only on insurance during the late Spring and Summer (I actually just put it back on insurance on Sunday so it's ready to get out and stretch its legs since being stored since last October).

Let me know if you ever want to meet up and good luck with the engine work.

I have done 2 motor swaps in mk3s... I had a non turbo, it had basic bolt ons, then we put a new motor in it and sprayed it with a 100 shot, then put a turbo setup on it. I then got my 89 turbo after i sold him my 87 non turbo. Went 13.3@104 on the stock turbo 15psi, turbo back, intake, boost controller, and custom intercooler/ hks vpc/act 6 puck/ electric fans 175K with a half blown head gasket. Got the motor build once the head gasket went, rood 8:5.1s shot peened stock rods with arp rod bolts, hks metal head gasket, and studs. Car sits now with a power house racing t67 t4, greddy coated manifold, hks racing 50mm wastegate, pte 680cc injectors. All i got to say is on 17psi the car went 12.5@ 123 on street tires. I dont own it anymore, but one of my good friends does

ive been going to a shop called powerzamcam.com based in sayerville. Bout 10 minutes away from jersey city. I live near ac and its an hour 45 from my house. I had a swap done on my 240 and brough it to Hyper-fest this past weekend. Beat the piss out of it for a whole day and nothing went wrong. And still drove the car back home. They do awesome quality work and are down to earth guys. Just hit up there site for more.
