Motorcycle As Only Mean Of Transportation

I'm going to be getting rid of the Subaru in a month or two. I'm thinking of getting a motorcycle. Obviously, I'd need to get a less-powerful 500cc bike and practice on that for 2-6 months. Since I won't have a car anymore, the bike will be my only mean of transportation.

But, I have a few questions. How many of you guys only have a motorcycle and nothing else to drive? Have you experienced any problems with only owning a motorcycle? Do you drive in the rain?

I have cars but try to ride often...having only the bike is nice for a while but it sucks if you need to take anything with you...and i absolutely hate riding in the rain...makes me nervous as hell and ive been riding for 15 years.

Dodge Colt FTW! I got one in my front yard, the hood came up when I was driving it to inspection last week.

rain isnt bad at all, just dont drive like a douche. ive been stuck in down pours lots of times, getting wet sucks but i usually laugh at myself and shake my head.
as long as your cautious rain isnt bad. i ride all year round as do most of my friends, get a leather jacket for sure.

question though why would you sell your car and buy a bike?

My friend has had his bike (GSXR) for like 4 months. He had to commute for 45 minutes 3 times a week to get to school; so now, he's tired of the bike and wants to get a car.

So, I'm concerned I might get annoyed of having only a bike after a while.

Chances are, if its your DD, you are gonna get sick of riding it everyday to work/school, specially if you get a sport bike, and have to commute a good distance. Even more so with the exceptionally crappy roads, and equally crappy drivers we have around here.
Gonna be useless in snow or ice, and miserable in the rain. Cold days as well. Even with full leathers, your gonna want grip warmers to get around when the cold weather hits in the fall.
I'd get a beater, and have the bike as a toy.
