Exhaust too loud! Need to fix ticket ASAP

I got pulled over b/c my exhaust was too loud. The ticket says "Loud Noise from Exhaust: Other than stock muffler."

My exhaust is legal in all 50 states and passes the 95 decibel test, so its obviously not too loud, the officer didnt use a decibelmeter, and I wasnt above 3000 RPMs. Basically, he's wrong, and I know there are easy ways out of this ticket, either by having someone sign off on it or some crap like that. I just dont know what I need to do to fix it.

How can I avoid the fines?

Driving back from Wawa

In Pemberton this would be a joke, but I dont feel like making six trips back to NB for it.

Or does anyone know how much the fines are?

I was heated earlier, I even locked my keys in my car, had to call AAA, but now I'm calmed down and want to see what I need to do/pay. It says mandatory court date, which is weird for an exhaust ticket isn't it?

Did you have to have a cop write it off or anything? Or just go to court and plead not guilty?

You should be able to talk to the prosecutor on the court date and sometimes they can lower the fine or totally dropped.

My buddy got one. you go to court and they give you a date to go meet someone and drive by them with a decible meter.
So with our legal system you have plenty of time to figure out how to get by it

Go to court with documentation, manufacturer's specs, and certificate of noise compliance, blah blah blah.
Give them pictures that the rest of your exhaust is not modified..is it? So that you can use the manufacturers claim of compliance.
A note from a mechanic about inspection legality would help as well.

This topic has been beaten to death yet? Read the ticket. Excessive noise and/or smoke. There is no set limit, the meter is the officer's ear. If he feels it's too loud, then you get the ticket. What can you do about it? Get a quiet exhaust...like the one that came on the car from the factory.

Paying tickets must be for kids then. I like my money, I'll keep it. Plus, it's less obvious you're on the gas with a quiet exhaust. If you insist on showing everybody how much of a man you are by having a loud exhaust, then don't bitch about the consequences.

Once again, my advice. Suck it up and pay the ticket. There's no exact science to the way it's given out in NJ. Be glad it's not in an impound lot.

No, I'm just amazed this topic is still discussed. It's a topic that's been beaten to death. You might as well go into the tech section next and ask which BOV nets the most gains.

The OP gets a ticket and wants to fight it. Misinformation rolls in with talks of meters, calibration, lawyers, pictures, fraud, and other BS. Then, I come in and quote the law as stated on NJ's MVC site. Then, the whining starts about how unfair it is that Harleys don't get pulled over for their noise. Then, the riders claim the loud exhaust is to warn cars and trucks that there's a motorcycle coming.

The ticket is up to what, $59 now? Big deal...pay it. Fighting it would cost more than paying it.

I don't know why everyone feels the need to have a loud exhaust. I want my cars as quiet as possible. I hate noise.

I love noise, drive around with the radio at 28/30 and my windows open...

plus small exhausts choke my car up so bad, even my brothers 2.5 inch sucks...
