Motorcyle insurance

Im thinking about possibly buying my first bike this summer and im wondering what company do you go with for insurance. I looked at geico and got close but not the very bottom of the barrel quote (i didnt deny all the coverage) and i got a $5,027 a year rate for a 2000 CBR 600. I dont know what i want yet but i want a street bike thats 600ccs. Is geico always high or is it just because its a street bike and im a noob. Also anyone have any suggestions on other bikes that are around the same that might not be as expensive to insure?

The Gixxer1000 I almost bought was going to cost me 60 a month. Full coverage was 120.

The company was called - American Modern Insurance.

do you have a motorcycle endorsement? I pay $250 a yr full coverage with dairyland. My bikes is a 1000cc spot tourer so its a cheap for insurance. Having your license and the safety course make a bid difference.

Geico are complete ripoffs! Ryder is usally your cheapest and there rates are set in stone. Regardless of your record. The way they work is there either insure you or they wont. 750 and down is one price and 751 and up is another! Usally about double. Now with that said i have state farm and they ended up being cheaper! I pay 821 a year for a 04 cbr1000rr!

I have State Farm also and I am paying $22/month for full coverage with a $500 deductible. This is for an 06 GSXR600. With State Farm in PA, I am almost positive you have to insure your car through them as well though, which is usually a little bit more. I was paying $107/month for my car, and now I'm paying $142/month. I had Progressive before I bought my bike and they wanted about $5000 a year for the same coverage. I have a clean driving record (it pays to be an ex-cop, or I should say saves) and I'm over 25, so it may be different for the younger guys.

I suggest a suzuki sv650s....great bike and cheap to insure. PS don't make the mistake of buying one on a credit card and carrying liability...stupid mistake..i know alot of guys do it and when the bike is wrecked or stolen your left with a bill
