Nope, that is the reason for security. Ask your administrator. If you can come up with a reason that it would be needed for your job, I am sure they would have no problems with it.

Privileges exist for a reason. We IT folk can't have you silly users installing programs willy nilly. It makes our job generally a nightmare. Unless you need Flash to do your job (and I doubt watching Lost is in your job description, but I've been wrong before) they'll likely tell you no.

Exactly what these guys said. The admin can give you certain "rights" to folders, network drives, etc....but as far as allowing employees to download programs at will, that just isn't safe. I work in an IT department and we have to be very careful with security, it is sooo easy for one employee to open or download an .exe that puts the whole network at risk... We have actually started bocking our employees from visiting foreign websites!

*clap clap clap* Hooray for retarded admins. When you log in as admin you can make your regular user account a local admin so you always have admin rights.

Wow now come on now. That may be his company policy to give that password out. Stupid CIO's maybe but give the admin a break. I know at WebMD, it was our policy to hand that password out like candy. The admin could have just said sorry you cannot watch lost at work.

You could have just one of the many products out there to change or delete the admin password and given yourself all those rights.
Where I work they have the systems really locked down but left a few holes in so you can still get in and change passwords and rights and edit the policies if you are clever enough. I have offically locked down my computer to the point where IT can not gain access to it.
