2 beta sites

been working on a few ideas for a portfolio site for myself.

critkit1
critkit2

both are not finished and I am looking for some critique before i decide which to pursue. So all constructive criticism is wanted.

i like them both... colors on the second one are really nice as well as the icons but the movement of the first one is cool too

In v_1 the buttons aren't big enough for me. I like the movie on the right with the bouncing squares but I was trying to find links/buttons in there even though they were right next to the mouse.. they're just too small. I also don't love the background image.

I like v_2, the way it slides between sections is cool. The gallery section is pretty intuitive, I like it. v_2 also way more pleasing aesthetically (for me), but I guess it depends on the style you're trying to show. It's a little more minimalist.
Load times on both are great, let us know which you choose.

thanks for the comments,

v1 would need to be revised, ie the background image touched up a bit, and maybe tweak som of the other stuff, add preloaders to all images, but i think the design of it allows for better viewing of the images.

v2 is my latest idea, i wanted to make it very clean and almost painfully simple. I like the bursts of color and the simplistic side of it. also it's really easy to edit where v1 is kind of cluttered.

keep the comments and criticisms coming.

i dont really like how the asterisks are for the photos in the first site, i'd rather see thumbnails and have it be a little more orderly, but thats just kinda my style.
i think both sites demonstrate your skill though, and its impressive. if things dont work out with the design of my current site i'd definitely want to talk to you about it.
in fact, we should talk about sprucing up tst... ya game? shoot me a pm about it if you have time.

I like the second one better, just because it is simple, clean, and easy to navigate. That's just my opinion. Your goal is probably to make a site that showcases your talents as well as being easy to navigate by potential employers.

thanks again everyone for their suggestions. i've found that deciding on a site for my own is one of the harder choices I have to face... usually by the time i have one near complete i getr an idea or see something that sparks me to want to design a site around it. then i'm left again, still, without a completed site. I'm going to try and combine the 2, i like the simplicity and layout of the 2nd one, but i'm going to add the fluidity of the 1st one.
