This is how it works....True freedom of speech works for people with enough money not to care...lets face it...Imus could lose his job but he is still set for life....I make a comment, lose my job and i'm out on the street. We should rewrite the bill of rights to say that you have freedom of speech as long as you don't offend anyone...which is everyone anymore.

in Imus' case, he was not only using the forums of both CBS and MSNBC, but also representing those companies. what they do to him is THEIR choice, and it has nothing to do with the constitution. what do you think would happen if someone showed up to work at best buy and told a customer to **** off?

thats also the same reason that Troll could ban us for cursing if he so chooses. this is his forum and the constitution does not apply.

what freedom of speech means is that you can say what you want as long as its not libelous, slandering, or threatening when you are representing only yourself and using your own forum to do it.

now,.. as for the bike guy.. its clear that his rights were absolutely violated. unless sidewalk chalk is now illegal. in which case theyre gonna have a ton of little kids to start arresting

Where on TV and radio do you hear the N word and Hoes? Cable and Satellite Radio...Both pay services, not public airwaves.

And like Smoger said, what happened to Imus was not from the government, it was from the companies who air him. They do not want to offend anyone because they lose money. They don't want to be sued because of what he did say or might say later! They need to disassociate themselves from him because its gonna cost mega bucks! Look at Stern. His content was not approiate for the general public and his company told him to quit it, fined him, and eventually he left to persue a pay service where his audience chooses to hear that, and pays for it, so he can do whatever he wants.

Honestly its ok to say it on any TV/Radio service, but not too many public channels will allow it to air because of their audience.

Do you see the TV Show "Real Sex" on NBC? No. Why? Because they are a public channel and operate on public airwaves, so they cannot air that material because they do not want their name tied to that image. If their image is tainted, advertisers pull theis ads from those channels, and when that happens the channels go bankrupt because nobody will advertise there due to the material.

Now HBO on the other hand, they do air that type of material because they know that their audience is not offended by it because their audience is paying to view it. This way they can be supported by the fees their audience charges, and minimal advertisements.

Sure Opie and Anthony are an exception, but correct me if I am wrong, their material on XM is far more offensive than FreeFM right?
