Does this sound like an injector problem?

my daily driver is a mr2T 3s-gte. Starts up and drives clean but lately when I hit the gas harder the car kinda sputters and sometimes jerks back and forth during heavier accelleration ( usually when my turbo is spooling ). Im thinking I have some dirt in my injectors but im wondering what else it could be. The jerking seems like the car stops accelleration then starts again for a breif moment.

Any ideas would be great since my mech is booked all week.

I would check plugs and wires first. Could be spark blowout. Put a new set of plugs in and gap them a little tighter and see if that works. For a few bucks you can at least rule that out.

what he said.
if that doesnt make an improvement then look at your engine management. hopefully you're tuned for your injectors/turbo, but even so maybe you're knocking / pulling timing bad when you get on the throttle for one reason or another.

To the best of my knowledge the 3S-GTE is a turbo motor, so I doubt engine management would be the case. How much boost are you running?

Im running stock 7lbs boost. The problem always seems to happen when I spool my turbo hard like from pulling out onto a highway or other times of quick acceleration. I just ran in some injector cleaners. Im due for my 75k tune up this week they'll change the plus and all then.

Car has stock internals and tuning.

renegade... turbo cars can have bad tunes too

Mr2.0... does the car have stock turbo, injectors, etc? what mods are done to it? my thought is still that the mods/tune could be a possible issue.

Can you verify boost psi with a gage? Don't just assume that you are running 7psi without a gage. Does this happen at part throttle (if so could be improperly adjusted BOV)?

You could also be over boosting and hitting fuel cut as this would only happen in the instances you describe. It certainly sounds like a boost control - related problem to me because if it was related to the ignition or fuel system, you would also experience this problem high in the RPM band during highway pulls.

You put a much bigger load on the car in higher gears and thus much higher loads on your fuel and ignition systems. If my car ever miss-fires, it's in this region, not boost build up.

Stock PSI is 7. i thought about the fuel cut off issue but that only comes past 11 or 12 psi from what I hear. Everything in the car is stock. I'll look into a boost leak and such if the tune up doesn't do the trick.

Boost leak usually doesn't make the car hesitate too bad under accell. Could be a knock, but usually the knock sensor would throw CEL's.

Plugs and wires.

Atleast pull the plugs and take a look at them. Its not a bad time to change them and maybe pick up some new wires, cap, and rotor while your at it.

Verify your PSI. You cannot assume that it is still running stock PSI at this age and unknown history of your car. You could very easily be hitting fuel cut. I will garantee you that it is not a boost leak.
